This week it's the second collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise after Minority Report, War of the Worlds 2005. Interesting premise and time, post 9/11, Tom Cruise in his weirdest (publicially) era and a director who'd made two exceptional extra terrestrial propeties prior to this. This should be fantastic! In a future bogged down in nostelgia to the detriment of a crumbling society it's up to a group of plucky internet savy individuals to unlock the mystery of the Oasis, a Virtual Reality space where your wildest dreams can come true. If your wildiest dreams are like, walking around and Batman is there or the Delorian or whatever. This time it's 2009's Gamer starring Gerard Butler, Logan Lerman, Michael C Hall and directed by Crank duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Set in the far distant future of 2034 in a world where the game Slayers (an online third person shooter) uses real life death-row prisoners in a real life murder arena controlled by players safely at home. The anticipation for what was to be the final Star Wars film, Revenge/Return of the Jedi was at an absolute boiling point in 1983. What was to become of Han Solo? It's time to talk what many still consider the pinacle of Star Wars media, The Empire Strikes Back. Released three years after the first movie in 1980 it also came at a time when sequels were almost always inferior to the original. To kick off Caravan Of Garbage in 2026 we've decided to celebrate the release of Star Wars' 49th anniversary. We're talking the original movie as it was first shown in May of 1977 with none of the Special Edition tweaks or even the addition of the title A New Hope which was added four years later. We're looking at the miracle of the movie that started it all, George Lucas' vision brought to life with the music of John Williams, special effects by ILM and the relatively unknown trio of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Two years after the success of the Warner Brothers Clash of the Titans reboot Sam Worthington returned to the role of Perseus for WRATH of the Titans. This time around Zeus and Hades have to content with the fact they no longer posess the power they once had in addition to Ares the God of War releasing Kronos from the underworld. In 2010 two things were big. 3D films and Sam Worthington, both a result of Avatar from 2009. And whilst that franchise continues on Clash of the Titans (which incorporates both) acts as a time capsule of that era of film making. Also acting as a reboot of the 1981 Ray Harryhausen original movie it pits Perseus, the son of Liam Neeson's Zeus, against the Gods of Olympus including Ralph Finnes Hades who is threatening to release the Kraken on the ever increasingly disgruntled mortals of Greece. Here we are at the conclusion of our Disney's Biggest Bombs series, rounding things out with Tomorrowland from 2015. Brad Bird who made a name for himself with the likes of The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol again delves into live action with an epic tale of alternate dimensions, retro-futurism, robots, jet packs and George Clooney's. Maybe it was too early or maybe it was too late but it didn't make much of an impact upon release despite being a pretty charming and positive adventure. In 2013 Disney were still looking for the next Pirates of the Caribbean so they thought, alright fine. We've reached the end of the 20th Century Fox era of Predator movies, right before the Disney purchase in 2019. This particular entry had a lot going for it, the return of director Shane Black to the franchise, an R rating, solid cast, big budget and yet it's regarded as probably the worst movie in the franchise with the inclusion of a giant nine feet tall Predator and movie Autism as a superpower. After one sequel in 1990 and two lackluster Alien VS Predator movies Predators took the franchise back to its roots in 2010. We get the return of a rag tag group of lunatics, a jungle setting, a muddy showdown but also some additional elements that elevate this movie beyond what had been done in previous sequels. It's just a shame we never got an actual follow up to what is considered by many to be a movie that I, Mr Sunday Movies, like very much. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review

With the massive success of the first film and massive amounts of franchise potential a sequel to the original Predator, Predator 2 released in 1990 was inevitable. Despite lacking some key elements from the first, Arnold Schwarzenegger and a jungle it does mix things up with the inclusion of Danny Glover, an LA in the midst of a heat/crime wave and a new and even more dangerous Predator. The trontent (Tron content) train trontinues (Tron continues) on Tron week! This time we're looking at the culmination off all good things Tron in 2010's Tron: Legacy. Jeff Bridges returns to the duel roles of Kevin Flynn and Clu in a far more visually appealing and dynamic legacy sequel to the 1982 original. Like The Mummy 2017, everything we've been covering up to this point has lead us here. The Dark Universe has had its fair share of failures but none quite as spectacular as the 2017 reboot/sequel/franchise launching Tom Cruise vehicle The Mummy. With Universal pumping nearly 200 million dollars into the budget including a brand new logo and the reveal of it's upcoming film slate in a hilarious promo photo featuring the likes of Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp this outing was nothing but an unmitigated disaster. And thats's why we love it. Not the movie but all the stuff around it. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review
