Kent McGowen grew up in Texas in a good family with a father in the oil business and a brother who became a cop ? served honorably in the United States Air Force became a Houston police officer and eventually became a sheriff's deputy in Harris County. In August 1992 while executing a felony warrant as part of a larger weapons operation the situation escalated when the woman he was there to arrest pulled a gun on him. He warned her repeatedly to drop the weapon before firing in what he says was an act of self defense. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares how the DA's office pursued him even after internal affairs cleared the shooting, what two separate trials and two separate convictions looked like from the inside, how the judge sentenced him to 20 years in the Texas prison system, what surviving as a former cop inside Texas's most brutal prisons actually required of him, and why he believes the corruption that sent him there runs far deeper than anyone in that system ever wanted to admit.

Davione Warren grew up in New Jersey without his father in the picture. His mother worked hard to give him and his siblings a better life ? but the streets pulled him in young. Gang life juvenile detention and drug dealing became all he knew. He wanted to use street life to fund a future in music ? but instead he did state time in his late teens and caught a federal case in his early 20s that resulted in 84 months in federal prison. Julio Almanza grew up in Chicago after his father walked out ? and that loss set everything in motion. The streets became his family the Satan Disciples became his identity and the Mexican cartel became his employer. At just 17 years old he was caught smuggling drugs on the Mexico side of the border and spent the next four years locked up in a Mexican prison before being transferred to federal custody in the United States. When he got out he went straight back. Ten more years in federal prison followed. He left the Satan Disciples and joined the Latin Kings ? and his former gang immediately put hits out on him. He survived moved to Arizona to start over ended up back inside and finally turned his life around completely.

What nobody knew was that as a child he had been sexually abused by a neighbor ? something he carried completely alone for years while navigating construction work womanizing and alcohol abuse after high school. Then he lost two close friends on 9/11. And that loss pushed him toward something bigger ? the NYPD. Jeremy Harrell is a United States Army combat veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom suffered mental health and brain injuries from combat received a 70% plus Individual Unemployability disability rating from the VA and spent years battling PTSD depression and sleeplessness. In 2018 he started a private Facebook page to help fellow veterans. In 2019 he incorporated Veterans Club a faith based nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans overcome PTSD traumatic brain injuries substance abuse and homelessness. He was an unpaid volunteer. He received no salary. In 2024 the Biden DOJ convicted him of theft of government funds for receiving VA disability benefits while serving as an unpaid volunteer CEO. In December 2024 he was sentenced to 6 months in federal prison and 6 months of home confinement. He surrendered to federal prison in Ashland Kentucky on January 28 2025. Cody Boden grew up in Grand Junction Colorado, the son of an alcoholic father in a coal mining town. Seamus McElearney spent years as an FBI agent doing what nobody had done in over a hundred years ? he flipped a made man inside the DeCavalcante crime family.
