22: How Much Evidence Has Been Lost? | 4 Killed For What?

Today, we will talk about the investigation's current status with a private investigator.

We ask how much footage and evidence has been lost and what obvious places have not been examined yet by investigators that could lead to clues in the investigation.

Why did Moscow police not prioritize collecting footage in the immediate aftermath of the murders from local businesses that VERY LIKELY would have cameras on the streets?

As seen by a gas station attendant coming forward five weeks into the investigation with security cam footage that was never collected or inquired about.

21: BREAKING: Gas Station Footage Shows White Vehicle Night Of Murders | #idaho4

On the night of the unsolved stabbing deaths of four University of Idaho students, a clerk at a Moscow gas station spotted a white vehicle going by at 3:45 a.m. Detectives gathered eight hours of surveillance video from the business on Tuesday morning.

An overnight assistant manager informed Fox News Digital that during her downtime on the graveyard shift, she has been slowly examining the footage over the past three days, seeking for clues. She said that on the murderous night, she was not at work.

She claimed that on Monday evening, about 3 o'clock, she saw the automobile. She claimed to have taken a photo of the screen and forwarded it to a tip-collection email address set up by the police.

She claimed, requesting anonymity out of fear for her safety while the offender is still at large, "I had a weird feeling to go get on the cameras."

She remarked that the car passed by "really quickly" and pulled down a side street off of Highway 8.

Police announced last week that they were seeking to speak with anyone inside a white Hyundai Elantra who could know something about the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle, all 20-year-olds. At the residence, the three women shared a living space, and Chapin, who was dating Kernodle, spent the night there.

According to police, any Elantra occupant may have "critical information to share" in this instance.

Around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, investigators arrived there and took the video.

The store manager reported that the cops introduced themselves as state detectives and captured an entire shift worth of footage.

As they stepped out of the building, one answered, "Not yet," when asked if they had discovered anything significant.

According to police, a white Hyundai Elantra from 2011 to 2013 was seen close to the victims' residence around the time of the murders.

After leaving the gas station, the detectives proceeded straight to the police station, and it was still too early for them to remark on what was in the tape.

Police continue to ask for assistance from the public, according to police spokeswoman Robbie Johnson, though she was unable to immediately clarify whether the Elantra seen on the gas station's surveillance footage was the same vehicle.

She said, "We're still encouraging people to send it in if you saw anything that night that looks strange...anything you have to report, even if you don't think it's anything." "When we get that information, even if it's small, it may piece the timeline together, put those puzzle pieces together, and we get a greater, bigger picture of what was going on," the she says.

No suspects have been apprehended or made publicly known.

20: Police Captain: "We're Going to Narrow In On What Happened And Who Did It" | 4 Killed For What

Today marks one month since these tragic and senseless murders took place.

On the evening of November 12th, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were at a local bar called Corner Club at 202 N. Main Street, in downtown Moscow, between 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. on November 13th. At approximately 1:40 a.m., Kaylee and Madison were seen on video at a local food vendor called the ?Grub Truck? at 318 S. Main Street and used a private party for a ride home from downtown to arrive at their 1122 King Road residence around 1:56 a.m.

Investigators have determined that Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were seen at the Sigma Chi house on the University of Idaho Campus at 735 Nez Perce Drive. At approximately 1:45 a.m., Ethan and Xana are believed to have returned to the residence at 1122 King Road. It was previously reported that Ethan resided at the home; however, it has been determined that he was only visiting.

Detectives believe that on November 12th, the two surviving roommates had also been out in the Moscow community, separately, but returned home by 1 a.m. on November 13th. The two did not wake up until later that morning.

On November 13th, the surviving roommates summoned friends to the residence because they believed one of the second-floor victims had passed out and was not waking up. At 11:58 a.m., a 911 call requested aid for an unconscious person. The call was made from one of the surviving roommates? cell phones inside the residence. Multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher before Moscow Police arrived at the location. Officers entered the residence and found two victims on the second floor and two victims on the third floor.

Autopsies were conducted on November 17th. The Latah County Coroner confirmed the identity of the four murdered individuals and their cause and manner of death as homicide by stabbing. The coroner stated the four victims were likely asleep, some had defensive wounds, and each was stabbed multiple times. There was no sign of sexual assault.

We also hear an update from Moscow Police Captain Roger Lanier as he reflects on the last month and where the investigation is headed.

Plain-clothed officers were on the scene the evening of 12/8.
We discuss who they likely are and why they may be there. Were these Federal Marshals?

Hyundai Elantra

MOSCOW, Idaho ? Detectives are interested in speaking with the occupant(s) of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra, with an unknown license plate. Tips and leads have led investigators to look for additional information about a vehicle being in the immediate area of the King Street residence during the early morning hours of November 13th. Investigators believe the occupant(s) of this vehicle may have critical information to share regarding this case.+
This is not the vehicle from the body cam footage, per police.
If you know of or own a vehicle matching this description, or know of anyone who may have been driving this vehicle on the days preceding or the day of the murders, please forward that information to the Tip Line.

Missing Time Line

One thing still under investigation is what happened between 9 p.m. Nov. 12 and 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 13 when police believe XANA and ETHAN were at the Sigma Chi house. Police are asking anyone with information about their interactions, contacts, plans or means of travel to share that with the department.

Stalker?
Using tips and leads, investigators have identified an incident involving Kaylee at a local business, which may have been the stalker reference she made to friends and family. In mid-October, two males were seen inside a local business; they parted ways, and one male appeared to follow Kaylee inside the business and as she exited to walk toward her car. The male turned away, and it did not appear he made any contact with her. Detectives contacted both males and learned the two were attempting to meet women at the business, this was corroborated through additional investigation. Based on available information, detectives believe this was an isolated incident and not an ongoing pattern of stalking. No evidence suggests the two males were involved in the murders.

Investigators continue looking into information about Kaylee having a stalker. Information about a potential stalker or unusual occurrences should go through the Tip Line.

The dog

There have been numerous requests about the dog found at the residence on the morning of November 13th. Arriving officers entered the residence and found the deceased victims. During the search of the home, a dog was found in a room where the crimes had not been committed. Officers did not find any evidence on the dog and there was no indication the animal had entered the crime scene. The dog was taken to Animal Services and released to a responsible person.

While the dog was in the house when officers arrived, it has not been determined where the dog was physically located when the murders took place.

13: SPECIAL REPORT: Police Chief Speaks Of Personal Dedication To Case | 4 Killed For What?

As frustration grows in the University of Idaho Murders case from the public and the parents of Kaylee Goncalves, today we hear a candid update from the police.

Fox News Alexis McAdams spoke with the Moscow, Idaho, police chief.  James Fry, as he tries to relay his personal dedication and restore confidence in finding the murders in this horrific quadruple homicide.

He talked of his personal relationship and emotional connection to the murders.

Addressing Kristi's complaint, Fry said the department had re-interviewed some individuals up to three times, noting that a "cleared" individual can still be called back to speak with investigators if the evidence supports it.

"We always have the option of re-interviewing,"; "We've actually re-interviewed people two or three times because we'll get tips, or we'll get information that we need to verify again and sometimes we need to ask the questions just a little, bit different to ensure that we're getting the proper information to continue on with this investigation. So that happens regularly in all investigations."

Meanwhile, On Tuesday, grieving Father Steve Goncalves told Fox News Digital that he has conferred with various attorneys who could force police to divulge case data. Saying: "There are things that we can request and things we can do to get to the truth faster," he said. "You have to fill out forms to get this evidence released to you. I don't know how to do that."

Brian Entin of News Nation today spoke with Sigma Chi President Reed Ofsthun outside of the Sigma Chi house.

The house where police are focusing on the timeline between 9 pm Nov 12 and 1:45 am Nov 13th, where Ethan and Xana are believed to be at the Sigma Kai house.

WHEN ASKED IF THERE WERE CAMERAS AT THE HOUSE, THE ANSWER WAS ?NOT ON THE PROPERTY?.

It has also been reported that beginning tomorrow, the Moscow, Idaho, Police Department will begin to collect and remove some of the personal belongings of the victims from the residence. These items are no longer required for the investigation and will be returned to the victims' families once they have been gathered.

We discuss the focus and request from police searching for information on what happened between 9 p.m. Nov. 12 and 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 13 when police believe XANA and Ethan and Xana were at the Sigma Chi house.

Former FBI investigator Bill Daly talked to Fox News and provides an analysis of the Idaho quadruple murder case and if it is indeed a good thing that we don't have much more information in the public sphere.

Even though police cleared a man from an incident more than a month ago at a bar, was there a stalker hiding in the shadow of the lives of one or more of the victims?

We also discuss the profile of a killer. Do they feel remorse? Are they still alive? Or do they feel justified in their actions?

We also discuss the latest update as of 12/5/22 from the Moscow Police Dept.

From the police

There have been statements and speculation about this case, victim injuries, cause of death, evidence collection and processing, and investigative techniques. With the active criminal investigation, law enforcement has not released additional facts to the family or the public. We recognize the frustration this causes and that speculation proliferates in the absence of facts. However, we firmly believe speculation and unvetted information is a disservice to the victims, their families, and our community. The Moscow Police Department is committed to providing information whenever possible but not at the expense of compromising the investigation and prosecution.

Detectives continue investigating what occurred from approximately 9 p.m. on November 12th to 1:45 a.m. on November 13th, when Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were believed to be at the Sigma Chi house on the University of Idaho Campus at 735 Nez Perce Drive. Any interactions, contacts, direction and method of travel, or anything abnormal could add context to what occurred.

Detectives continue processing and working through more than 2,645 emailed tips, 2,770 phone tips, and 1,084 digital media submissions. We believe someone has information that will add context to the picture investigators are creating of what occurred that evening. Our focus is the investigation, not the activities. Your information, whether you believe it is significant or not, might be one of the puzzle pieces that help solve these murders.

Using tips and leads, investigators have identified an incident involving Kaylee at a local business, which may have been the stalker reference she made to friends and family. Today, we discuss the timeline and give a brief update on the current information as we know it.

Nov. 12
Ethan Chapin, 20, of Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, 21, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, of Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, of Rathdrum, Idaho, were killed.

Moscow police said Goncalves and Mogen, lifelong best friends, went to the Corner Club pub in downtown Moscow from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The two were filmed at Grub Truck, a neighborhood food vendor, at 1:40 a.m. and utilized a private party to get home at 1:45, authorities said. Authorities say the Grub Truck surveillance video man and the person who transported them home are not suspects.

Police said Chapin and Kernodle, who were dating, visited Sigma Chi Saturday night.

Police stated they returned home at 1:45 a.m. Chapin was sleeping over with his girlfriend.

Police said two other housemates, who survived the attack and are not suspects, went out in Moscow Saturday night and came home by 1 a.m.

Nov. 13
Moscow Mayor Art Bettge told ABC News that the four students died at the house between 3 and 4 a.m. on Nov. 13.

Police reported a dog at the home.

"Isolated, targeted attack," said Moscow Police Chief James Fry.

Police stated the two roommates slept through the murders in the basement. Police claimed the two roommates phoned friends to their house on Nov. 13 because they thought one of the second-floor victims had passed out.

Police said a roommate called 911 for an unconscious person at 11:58 a.m. Police said "multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher."

Police reported finding four victims on the second and third floors.

Authorities stated no one at the house at the time of the 911 call committed the murders.

Police also don't think the male Goncalves and Mogen repeatedly called on Nov. 13 is involved.

November 17
Police said Nov. 17 autopsies showed all deceased were stabbed many times.

Police stated the four kids were asleep when attacked and had defensive wounds.

Police noted no sexual assault.

Nov. 28
Goncalves' father, Steve, told ABC News on Nov. 28 that the pupils died swiftly and did not bleed for hours, thus an earlier 911 call would not have saved them.

"Nobody suffered," Steve Goncalves stated.

Nov. 21
On Nov. 21, 20-year-old Ethan Chapin's family held a memorial service.

On Nov. 30, grieving family and students held a candlelight vigil at the University of Idaho.

Today we hear the frustration in the voice of Steve Goncalves, FATHER OF University of Idaho  MURDER VICTIM CASEY Goncalves WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THE MOSCO PD AND CITY PROSECUTOR.

We also hear Steve?s opinion WHEN HE WAS FURTHER ASKED HIS OPINION ON FOX NEWS IF HE HAD ANY FEELING THERE BEING A SPECIFIC SUSPECT.

Latest from Moscow Police as of this evening. ?We remain consistent in our belief that this was a targeted attack, but investigators have not concluded if the target was the residence or if it was the occupants.?

What does ?Targeted? mean by FBI standards?

After being deemed a suspect ?online?, Jeremy Reagan, a neighbor of the Idaho murder victims, told NewsNation?s ?Banfield? that he went to the police station and offered to submit his DNA. He said he went there without being asked to because it's "easier to be proactive and just get it all out of the way."

New Details Emerge about the night of the Idaho murders and who was where a supportive father's words for an ex-boyfriend and more confusion from the police and city.

There has been much speculation about the boyfriend of Madison Mogen online since the murders took place. However, Ben Mogen, the father of Idaho murder victim Madison Mogen, spoke in support of her boyfriend Jake tonight as students waved their cell phones as cameras at a vigil for the victims.

Kaylee Goncalves? father spoke about his daughter?s close friendship with Madison Mogen and confirmed that the two girls were murdered in the same room, in the same bed.

Earlier in the day, there were reports of the man connected with the Sept 12th incident regarding an argument between a group of people walking on the Univ of Idaho bike path and a cyclist. Reports are cyclists displayed a folding knife and scared several female students. The cyclist did in fact, turn himself in at the time; however, no charges were filed at that time. Now that there are charges, Police say there is no connection to the student murders.

And the land of confusion continues to contradict itself,

With the Police and the prosecutor saying there was an internal miscommunication in their statements over the last day. Basically, everything they?ve said.
