"???The foundation of my testimony was the doctrine of the church is right. The way we understand the plan of salvation and eternal progression and all of the things that make us different from mainstream Christianity, I knew to be true based on my reading of the scriptures and praying about it. I was really given a strong testimony of it. And because of that it was like all of the messy history, all the things that the anti-Mormons love to use to sow doubt and stuff, that was all downstream from that. It was like, well, none of that changes that the doctrine is what my testimony is, and I believe the doctrine is true."

"I personally believe that one of the ways in which the spirit speaks to someone such as myself is through logical sense. Which I think is interesting because usually those two things are pitted against each other. I never received the voice in my head saying, this is true when I'm reading the Book of Mormon as some people would. As something clicked in my head I would be at peace about it. And then obviously the heart and mind have to be unified in order to be spiritually in tune. So I am always like, well, if you're experiencing an absence of the spirit because you have all these logical problems, that's probably why. It's because your heart and mind need to be in tune. And that's obviously why I never received a purely spiritual witness, because my mind was just not in it, and my mind needs to be in it. And so I always like to view those two things as working together, not really working against each other."

"I got some relief from the incredible fear and pain and darkness that was surrounding me when I made the decision to get honest. That was a profound experience. There's a great scripture that I actually experienced in that event, it was Alma 34:31-Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately will the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you. That scripture I found later in my repentance process spoke to me because I had experienced what happened when I had a change of heart. From fear of coming forward and being honest, to I will get honest. I will do whatever is required. I could lose my marriage, lose my church membership, lose my family, lose my job. All of those things were possibilities. But yet I realized that I didn't have any alternative except to get honest. And when I chose to do that, that was a changing experience for my life."

"I was like, I'm doing this. And then I remembered, this is my mom's church. I was like, oh no. Anything but that, she can't be right! And then I looked at myself and I just thought how am I gonna sit in Relief Society looking like this? You can't ask me to do that. That's too much, they ask a lot of you in that church, and I don't think I could do this. But if it meant saving my children then I was all aboard. I didn't care. Nobody could push me away. Nobody could take away the fact that I was just heard and I was just saved and I didn't deserve any of it. I was an awful, awful person all the things that I did. And there was my Savior there, running into the flames to rescue me. And not only just me, but he was there to help me save my family. And so from that day on, I just vowed. I was like, that's it. This is what I'm doing. I'm doing it all and I'm gonna do it full force."

"I'm a feminist theologian who was excommunicated and I'd been a Gnostic Christian for 15 years. I didn't know where to start. We let Christ, the living bridge be the bridge between us. We didn't presume to come from our own perspectives. You know, I was saying things like. "Well, you know, I was excommunicated. Do we need to go back and revisit all of that?" And they said, "No, no. All we care about is your relationship with Christ. Tell us about your faith and your relationship with Christ and with God." And so I did and we just turned it over to God and prayed and then it was beautiful. This is what's hard for a lot of my friends and a lot of feminists to understand. Like, was I recapitulating? Was I surrendering? Was I giving up my feminism? No. They never asked me to recant or give up anything. We were exploring a new relationship between feminists and church leaders. I saw them as my brothers. They were like pillars. They were so loving and so kind, and it was just utterly healing."

"I have the fortunate experience of having seen so many critical questions answered that I just have faith that there's going to be an answer somewhere for most of it. But really for me, it also comes down to the Book of Mormon. Because I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have a witness of that. I feel that there is evidence of that, not proof, but strong evidences that indicate that it is true. There's testimony from witnesses, and the criticisms against it that I've looked at have been weak. And so when I come across a new question that I don't know the answer for, I always rely on- I know the Book of Mormon's true, so the church is true- even though I don't know the answer to this question. "?I think studying a little bit about a hard topic can be more dangerous than studying a lot about a hard topic because there's so much more under the iceberg that can help contextualize what's going on. And so I would definitely say if you're struggling, don't be afraid of the hard questions, but just do it with an approach of faith, hope, and charity. Take a deep breath, make sure you take your time and are doing it in a mindset where you are prepared to tackle these in a rational, reasonable, and faith filled way. But probably more importantly, I ultimately don't think that study and rational thinking is what really keeps people in the church. It really is having a relationship with Jesus Christ. It's those spiritual moments that make us realize that this is true, that this is good, that this is something that is going to bring so much meaning and beauty into my life and this is gonna bring me closer to God than anything else."

"?Reading the Book of Mormon that week, I really sat down and actually studied the words of the Book of Mormon, and it was powerful. It was so powerful. It was undeniable. And I had been reading about how this genius farmer, right, we always were like, 'He's such a genius. That's how you get away with it', wrote this book out of nowhere. And as I'm reading it, I'm just like, there is no way. There is no way. I remember so many scriptures, I couldn't get enough because there were so many things, and it just felt like God was just waiting for me to open the door and he would just feed me, you know, like I was starving and he would just feed me."
