TALK TARIFF TO ME w/ JENNA FROM SmartHER NEWS

Happy Thursday and Happy birthday Tyler! This leads into a conversation on birthday traditions and what Kelly and Lizz's perfect birthday dinner would be. They also share their marriage advice of the day and reveal trauma from their dad's lectures.  But the big thing they need to talk about is once again tariffs. This week, they have someone that can hopefully shed a little more light on the subject, Jenna from SmartHer News. She explains exactly what a tariff is and why it can affect so many things we buy every day. If the whole tariff conversation has you confused, this conversation is a must listen!  Jenna is a journalist, so Kelly and Lizz take some time to also talk about her favorite news stories right now and how to find the truth in modern day media. Plus, what she's driving and her favorite Ditch the Drive-Thru dish!

CHAT GPT IS NOT COMING FOR US

Everywhere you look people are talking about Chat CPT and other AI technology. It can be a little scary, but can it be used for good? Kelly put Chat GPT to test to see if they could get any use out of it and had it write the podcast today! Did it give them any gems?  It's first suggestion was to talk about chaos moments or funny kid quotes. While they couldn't think of any, it did bring up some drama at the library. Then, it suggested a segment called "What's in the Snack Bag?" which is basically Taste drive and Lizz brought a new viral snack for the ladies to try, frozen grapes. Spoilers: not a fan.  Chat GPT then suggested Kelly and Lizz talk about pop culture headlines including stories on Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, which is not really their thing. But it did bring up a good question - is anyone really a fan of Katy Perry?  Next, Chat GPT suggested a segment called "Carpool Categories: What's In My Purse?" It sounds like a Instagram post from 5 years ago. But with the suggestion of "Currently Obsessed," it gave the ladies time to talk about red sneakers and how car care is self care. So it's not all bad.  Before they wrap up the Chat GPT talk, Lizz has a suggestion from a Carpooler on alternate names for the "Ceiling Vent" segment from Chat CPT. Some of them are great, some not so much... But it could just be Lizz's delivery...  Before they wrap up the episode, Kelly has breaking IIHS Safety Pick drama in Industry News. Then, it's Ditch the Drive-Thru with a possible super juicy chicken tender recipe and chuck roast tacos.

TELL THEM THEY'RE A SMOKESHOW

It's time for a trip to the dermatologist for Kelly this week. What is she getting done? Something with lasers... she's not quite sure. Speaking of the dermatologist, Lizz is wondering if she can get botox while breastfeeding. Anyone know the answer to that? Plus, the one skin item the ladies tried for their face that turned out to be worthless.  In the Driveway Dump/Ceiling Vent, Lizz has discovered a new way to search for all the things she used to search for on Pinterest. Instagram AI search is now her go-to! But not all AI searches are the same, just take a look at Gemini. Then somehow the ladies get into cookie sheets with a lip and we all learn that Jelly Roll isn't just a singer, but also the name of a pan. Plus, with Easter on the way, Kelly and Lizz share one of their most cherished childhood traditions that you'll want to steal for this year.  It's time to break down Kelly and Lizz's Last Three Transactions! Lizz is continuing on her breast pump journey and got a new one from Pumpables that she is really loving. Meanwhile, Kelly is excited to try out her new door chime. Plus, Brooks shoes, Truly Free detergent, magnetic blocks, grills and Light Brites!  Lizz has a new strategy for screen time that involves DVDs and a portable DVD player. That brings them to a conversation on the appropriate amount of screen time for kids. Speaking of lessons for your kids, Kelly and Lizz share how they plan on teaching their own kids self confidence based on their childhood.  Wrapping up the podcast this week, Kelly brings you the latest on tariff talk and how it might affect car prices. Then in Ditch The Drive-Thru a reminder that the best recipes come from the back of your ingredients!

TRAD WIFE IN A TARGET PICK-UP KIND OF WAY

Another big week for the Car Mom as Kelly is headed off to Dallas for a big event. Lizz's pumping schedule made it too difficult to make the trip herself, but she has some big news of her own. She is finally a certified CPST! Is this big enough to change the Instagram bio?  Driveway dumps are turning into Ceiling Vents and the ladies have a lot to talk about. First, Matty is writing a kid's book and it's enough to make any parent cry. It reminds the girls of how they would use rhymes to remember things as kids and how they are using it to teach their kids valuable life lessons. Then, Lizz shares some emails from listeners including the origin of the Jeep wave and a new bath of icks. Kelly has updates from the farm including their 25 new residents and an eczema update.  It's time to talk tariffs in Industry News as new ones for the car industry are set to take effect on April 2nd. What cars will be affected and which ones won't? Kelly breaks it down for you. Plus, some great advice on whether or not to buy a car right now and how to not fall for dealer scare tactics.  Finally in Ditch the Drive-Thru, Lizz has a roast beef sandwich that you've going to want to make tonight!

CAR FEATURES NOT WORTH THE HYPE

House work is happening at Lizz's house today on the podcast, and that's one of the drawbacks of living in an older neighborhood. But what do you get in a new development? Neighbor drama! Ever since Lizz moved her neighborhood has been drama free and she's kind of craving it. Can you help her out?  It's been a slammed week for the ladies of the Carpool Podcast! Not only are there new roughs being put in, but they are making tons of content in the new Suburban and the Just Between Friends sale is BACK! But the biggest event is Lizz getting her CPST certification!  It's also time to talk about what we're viewing. Lizz NEEDS to talk about the Drake and Josh reunion podcast and all the drama surrounding it. Kelly, on the other hand, is enjoying time with her own thoughts. But they both have plenty of suggestions for a listener who wrote in asking what girly shows to watch while her husband is on deployment.  Kelly had a post go viral this week asking what car features are not worth the hype. There are going to be some hot takes here. The first one? Wireless Apple CarPlay is SO not worth it! Neither are wireless chargers!  Finally, Kelly ended up in a video with Naptime Kitchen that turned into a "one of these things is not like the others" situation. BUT it did provide some amazing Ditch the Drive-Thru options!  Rula patients typically pay $15 per session when using insurance. NEW COVER ART, SAME VIBE

Notice something a little different with the Carpool today? That's right, the new cover art is here and, we won't lie, it's pretty great! From a picture taken in a basement with no makeup, to this professionally shot photo, Kelly and Lizz sure are moving on up. It's the first part of a big week for the Car Mom with a ton of content to be created thanks to friends who are creating little ones of their own.  There are a lot of things in the works at the Car Mom and the biggest one might be from Kelly herself. She's been experimenting with something for the last five weeks and she's finally ready to tell the world about it. What could it be? She has changed the order of how she gets ready in the morning and she's sharing what she has learned to help us all get our routines right.  Lizz is on a journey of her own inside The Loft. She spent a good amount of money the other day there attempting to freshen up her wardrobe. However, was there a day she looked down on shopping at The Loft? Or is that just Kelly misremembering her own self-loathing?  The biggest journey lately for Lizz has been, of course, her pumping journey. Last week she got emotional talking about the amazing support she received and this week she is sharing a big update. Thanks to @onewiththepump she has discovered she had been doing it all wrong and things are looking up! She learned two very important lessons from this journey that we can all take into every aspect of our lives. 1) Be careful who you take your advice from. 2) You can say "I could never" but you only quit when quitting is an option.  Then, Kelly and Lizz are bringing you their Model Lineup of the most satisfying feelings. Is there anything better than the feeling of going to bed with clean sheets? How about the feeling when all the kids are asleep for the night? It's time to debate the most satisfying feelings!  In Industry News a warning on the toll road scam everyone is getting. How many texts have you received this week? Plus, the ladies talk about late-term buyer's remorse and what really might be going on. Could all you need is a car wash?  Finally, Kelly is continuing to cook gluten and dairy free items for her family and got the best suggestion - keep it super simple or KISS. But Kelly and Lizz may have just taken it up a notch with KISS A**.

TWISTERS, AIRPORTS & BREAST MILK

Twisters, power and internet outages meant no podcast on Tuesday, but Kelly and Lizz are back and ready to get into what's been going on. First, Kelly is recapping her family trip to Arizona. "It's an easy three-hour flight!" Not so much when you have four kids in tow! When did families lose the respect on planes and kids are considered an inconvenience? Kelly and Lizz have some hot takes on traveling with your kids that they need to share.  Then, it's time to catch up with Lizz and baby Sloan's formula intolerance. They finally got a diagnosis on exactly what is going on and this is going to be more difficult to navigate than anticipated. What makes it harder is Lizz's breast milk supply is going down and when that's all Sloan can take it's become pretty stressful. Luckily, Kelly and some other kind souls have come to the rescue! There will be some tears shed during this conversation.  To lighten the mood, Kelly and Lizz take you into their bank accounts with Last Three Transactions. Kelly started with buying the $8 wifi on her flight, which ended up costing her much more after all the online shopping! Easter pjs anyone? She has also continued on her press-on nail journey and is now venturing into the world of red sneakers. Lizz is investing in many items to help Sloan's feeding journey including a new breast pump, nursing bras and a bottle warmer. Plus, she's getting ahead on the summer rush and braving the bathing suit section at Old Navy.  In Industry News, Kelly gives her review on the new Hyundai Santa Fe. Did they have enough room for the entire family and all their luggage? Not so much. Also, ever wonder what would happen if you got to empty on your gas gauge? Car and Driver put the Toyota Grand Highlander to the test to see how many miles they could actually get when it says you have zero miles left.  Finally, in Ditch the Drive-Thru Lizz is all about the viral beef bowl trend while Kelly fills us in on what she is cooking on her Blackstone!

BRING BACK THE VW BUG

What is your earliest memory? That is what Lizz and Kelly are talking about today on The Carpool. For Lizz, it's her and Kelly playing with their imaginary friends who also happened to be big brothers. You always want the sibling combo you don't have. Kelly's earliest memories are of preschool and the spot to be was the peanut-free table. She perpetually had a peanut butter sandwich and was persona non-grata with the cool kids. Does she still harbor a bit of resentment? Don't even ask about the apples...  Kelly is headed off on a family vacation with a Hummer and it got her thinking about cars that no longer exist that definitely should. The internet seems to be ravenous for a Ford Excursion. Kelly and Lizz's big prediction? We could be seeing a new Volkswagen Beetle hitting the market again! Slug bug!  While Kelly is enjoying a vacation, Lizz will be back home working on sleep training Sloan. This leads to a discussion on the pressures of parenting thanks to social media. There are so many opinions coming from us at every angle, how do you decide what is right for you? It's time for a return of mother's intuition!  What were the lessons your parents taught you as a kid? Kelly has two stories her father told her that she refers to daily. This is how she learned to not be afraid to ask questions and that just because something is always done one way doesn't mean it needs to always be done that way.  Before they leave, Lizz has a new random fact of left handed vs. right handed vs. ambidextrous. Kelly has a random fact on vertigo... Well, more like the fact that she has vertigo.  Today's episode is brought to you by Clean Simple Eats. It's a new week and spring is in the air! Well, at least it feels that way for the Car Mom... Before you know it though it will be summer and you have to figure out what to do with your kids while school is out. That is currently the journey Kelly is on as she decides if she wants to send them to daycare or camp. Unfortunately, there is no Camp Phineas and Ferb like the one the ladies ran when they were kids. That's right, Kelly and Lizz ran their own week long summer camp when they were teenagers made them some bank! Could this be your side hustle this summer?  Speaking of things from the Disney universe, neither Kelly or Lizz have ever been to a Disney park but they feel like they could be Disney adults. They're both into the Disney adult content creators and have a love for the High School Musical soundtrack. Maybe one day?  Lent starts this week and Kelly and Lizz are getting ready to give something up for the next 40 days. This year not only are they giving something up, but they want to do something to better themselves before Good Friday. But the real best of lent season? The fish fry!! It's been a while since Kelly and Lizz checked in with their bank accounts for Last Three Transactions. Kelly is getting ready for a family trip to Arizona by stocking up on Tea Collection clothes for the kids and lots of activities and toys for the plane. Plus, she got some Crocs for herself and she's very excited about it! Meanwhile, Lizz has had her life completely changed thanks to the Haakaa breast pump and the Athleta pale yellow collection.  There are two juicy stories in Industry News. First, Carvana is making moves into the franchise business with the purchase of a Stellantis store. Then, why the Honda and Nissan merger may be donezo!  Finally, as we head into Lent a quick reminder of a solid Ditch the Drive-Thru favorite. If fish will be a staple for you the next 40 days, it's time to break out the salmon sushi bowl recipe!

The snow is melting, the sun is shining and the tank is full! Kelly and Lizz are finally fully back into work and noticing how much Instagram has changed in the three months they were out. Has the time of polished main feed posts gone?  Lizz recaps her weekend trip to Fort Worth Texas and resisting the urge to tell young women on their way to yoga class to cherish the moment. They're going to tour the monster trucks and interview the drivers. Are kid's YouTube content in the Car Mom's future?  It's time to get a little profound as the ladies discuss mom guilt. There are so many situations that can make you feel guilty as a mom whether it's when your kid cries during drop-off as you head off to work or when you have to ignore the needs of one child for a time to take care of the other. Kelly explains why as a mom you may have to just get comfortable with that guilt.  Next on the docket, where is the accountability for sellers on Facebook marketplace? Kelly is shopping for some furniture but nobody seems to be checking their messages. Plus, you have to be on the lookout for those scams and not just on Marketplace. Lizz recently had a woman try to scam her in a mom Facebook group.  In Industry News, the Tesla Model Y is FINALLY getting a redesign! However, if you're in the market for a used car, the Car Mom has released a list of great family cars for $600 a month and under. THE GREAT CAR SEAT/STROLLER COMBO DEBATE

Remember when Kelly and Lizz said last week the kids were headed back to school? One of the biggest storms in Missouri history kind of stood in the way of that. But now the kids are finally back to school and the Car Moms are ready to head full stream into the new year! Kelly kicks it off with a discussion over the viral Walmart Birkin bag dupe and it leads to a discussion on buying dupes and fakes. Lizz has a suggestion for a good bag you're going to love that won't break the bank and isn't trying to be something else. Also, a good reminder when you're shopping for new clothes online, make sure to check the material list!  All this clothing and shopping talk leads perfectly into Last Three Transactions. Lizz finally broke down and got the cookbook Kelly has been going on and on about. Plus, she's making keepsake boxes for both of the kids and bringing back the Pantene. Now it's back to work with maternity leave officially over for both Kelly and Lizz. They're looking forward to a big year for the Car Mom and hopefully for a very boring one personally. No more moving or kids in 2025! At least that's the plan...  First things first, it's time for Kelly and Lizz to reveal their words of the year and why they'll be making a 2025 bingo card to keep track of their goals. You might want to get a pen and paper to write this down.  Since they're talking parenting hacks, Lizz uncovered a date night back from her dad that might be life changing. How did the kids never find out that during their weekly date night, mom and dad were really just in the basement the whole time?  Kelly has a Fast Lane Philosophy to share from her husband Tyler that will change the way you think about everything. Plus, a fun parenting idea to keep the kids busy. Oh, and it's time to start clearing out things around the house! BECAUSE IT'S THE HOLIDAYS

It's time to recap the family Thanksgiving dinner. There were a lot of expectations, were they met? Kelly has a couple notes, Lizz has no notes but is quickly learning that the holidays with a toddler is MUCH different than the holidays with an infant.  With the holidays in full swing, Kelly has some December advice - don't delay the joy. Go full glam with the red lipstick. Rock the sparkle shirt. In that spirit, she's throwing a party for the women in her life, no kids and no husbands. But first to decide the correct appetizers and cocktails to serve.  Then, it's time for an apology. Specifically to anyone victimized by Lizz's bone broth hot chocolate. Who knew a simple drink would cause so much haters?  In advice, Kelly and Lizz have a question from a listener that is struggling with presents for her in-laws. Since the family is growing she wants to cut back on buying for the adults and do a secret santa. The rest of the family isn't into the idea. How should she go about Christmas drama free? Plus, a question on buyers remorse and if it's okay to trade in so soon.  The tea in Industry News is piping hot with the battle for Automatic Emergency Braking. Who will win?  Finally in the Ditch the Drive-Thru, Kelly is attempting to make pizza dough from scratch and so far not loving it. Lizz is getting ready for a busy holiday season by stocking up on some frozen food favorites from Trader Joe's.

It's making the holiday shopping season a little more stressful. Speaking of stress, both Kelly and Lizz have been diagnosed with D-MER. Never heard of it? You're not alone and frankly this is something all women should know about!  With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there were plenty of holiday deals to be had and the ladies made a ton of life-changing purchases. THE SEMI-AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SCOOP

The Carpool podcast has officially charted #1 in the automotive category and is looking forward to a future with video and remote recordings. Today, the gals welcome Kristy Rasback, the global system safety director at General Motors for an interview you won't want to miss.   Kelly is prepping for back to school this week while Lizz just celebrated her two year anniversary with Mattie. In driveways dumps they lay out their dream shopping center: Target (of course), Home Goods, Trader Joe's, a local coffee shop, Athleta or Lululemon, and a sushi restaurant. Kelly warns the Carpool crew that Netflix rom coms suck, so take a leap back into the 1990s and rent The Bodyguard. Next on her list is Rumor Has It and Lizz adds It Ends With Us might be worth the watch, too.  Non-GMO, gluten-free, healthy meals are hard to come by when you're out and about as a busy mom.
