On today's episode, investigative journalists ?Mandy Matney? and ?Liz Farrell? have to share a little warning first: What you?re about to hear today is NOT for kids? ears. Which is sad to say because it?s about law enforcement officers and what they do at the workplace.  In October 2020, an Horry County Police Officer, applying to work for Highway Patrol, was given a polygraph test as part of a pre-employment screening at South Carolina Department of Public Safety. The results of the test turned out to be so shocking that officials there reached out to the Horry County Police Department to let them know that they had a problem ? problems that included sexual misconduct of officers, masturbation at work, drunk driving, sexting photos of genitals while in uniform and even potential child abuse.  According to several sources close to the situation, this polygraph is what led to the outing of what is referred to among current and former officers as the Green Sea 14 ? a group of officers, plus firefighters, who were having sex on duty and at police facilities.  As Mandy and Liz continue to dig into what Green Sea 14 means, who was involved, how far up in ranks the officers went and why it seemed to be swept under the rug by leadership, today they share what they found in the investigation file of one officer and what they think it says about the department as a whole, as well as those with the power to fix the problems.   Let's Dive in? ? ? Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and ?Liz Farrell? are hopeful that South Carolina will pass a law criminalizing coercive control abuse ? eventually ? maybe. Ugh.  After the tragic death of Mica Francis in April 2024, we all got a crash course in the horrors of coercive control abuse because of what Mica?s estranged ?Pastor? JP Miller is accused of doing to her during the final 18 months of her life. Mica repeatedly sought help from the Horry County and Myrtle Beach Police Departments in JP?s alleged stalking and harassment of her, but over and again the police told her there was nothing they could do.  In the meantime, three coercive control bills continued to languish in the General Assembly, which is almost 90 percent men. Last week a hearing was held in subcommittee to discuss the latest iteration of the bill, dubbed Mica?s Law. Liz and Mandy talk about how that went and what they think will happen next. Last week, investigative journalist Mandy Matney showed up in Cherokee County Courthouse in Gaffney, South Carolina, for a hearing related to her request that her deposition in the Mallory Beach civil conspiracy case be held in the offices of her lawyers or Beaufort County Courthouse ? somewhere secure.  But when the hearing began, the attorneys of billionaire gas station owner Greg Parker ? who is a defendant in the case ? Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell are ready to celebrate as Myrtle Beach ?Pastor? John-Paul Miller is finally going to federal court on Jan. 12 in Florence, South Carolina. He?ll be arraigned on two charges related to why his estranged wife, Mica, allegedly killed herself in April 2024. Plus, Mandy and Liz begin peeling back the layers on the Charity Beallis case in Bonanza, Arkansas. Charity, who was 40, was found shot to death in December 2025 alongside the bodies of her 6-year-old twins in their house the DAY AFTER her final divorce hearing.  No suspects have been named yet and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, has denied having anything to do with their deaths. The investigation includes six law enforcement agencies, including the United States Secret Service and Homeland Security Investigations, but little information has been given to the public on the status of the case. For almost 20 months, investigative journalists ?Mandy Matney?, ?Liz Farrell? and ?Beth Braden? have covered the Mica Francis case. They?ve filed dozens of Freedom of Information Act requests, listened to hours of recordings, gone through stacks of police reports, court documents, transcripts and text messages to piece together what the final months, weeks and days of Mica?s life looked like as she tried to extricate herself from her husband, ?Pastor? John Paul Miller.  On April 27, 2024 ? the day Mica killed herself in a remote part of a North Carolina swamp ? JP was the leader of Solid Rock Ministries in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he had built, destroyed and rebuilt his megachurch all while, according to records and accusations made by family, friends and former church members, using his position of power and his so-called connection to God to bully, harass and torment his young wife, Mica ? all the while denying wrongdoing and escaping accountability.  On Dec. 18, 2025, the United States Government announced that JP Miller (finally) was going to be held accountable for his alleged actions against Mica, who investigators say killed herself as a result of JP?s threats and abuse.  He has been charged with one count of cyberstalking for his alleged actions between Nov. 16, 2022 and the day of Mica?s death and one count of lying to federal investigators.
