--

On June 7, 1992 Stacy McCall, Suzie Streeter and Sherrill Levitt went to bed in a small town in the Ozarks. By the next morning, they had vanished without a trace. 30 years later, the mystery remains unsolved. Anne Roderique-Jones is creator and host of "The Springfield Three," a popular podcast examining the case of the disappearance of those three women and how it affected the community as a whole. Anne grew up in Springfield, Missouri, and was just 12 years old when these disappearances rocked her small town. She discusses what led her to revisit the story, the perils of getting too invested in solving a case, what she learned in the process, areas where the case went wrong, why we are all so obsessed with stories like these.

Clues Hidden in the Attic

Since The Springfield Three came out last May, new tips and theories have come pouring in. In this first bonus episode, we reveal some of these new tips and some possible new theories, particularly regarding Robert Craig Cox. We spoke with a woman who knew Robert Craig Cox all those years ago, when he was more commonly known as ?Bob.? She tells us what he was like back in 1992, and shares an eerie discovery she made in her attic. We also hear from another woman who had a frightening experience with Cox when she was young, and from a man who believes he knows where the women are buried.

An Interview With Bartt Streeter

In the second bonus episode we finally speak with Bartt Streeter, the son of Sherill Levitt and brother of Suzie Streeter. Bartt rarely speaks to the media, but in this episode he bares it all. He tells us about growing up with his mother and sister and about the moment he found out they were missing. He gives us a clue about who Sherill was speaking to the night of the disappearance and describes what it was like to be a suspect in the disappearance of his mother and sister.

What Do the Police Know?

It?s obvious that the police had a lot of involvement in this case, and still do. In this bonus episode I explore why they won't talk to me. I chat with a former Springfield journalist who had close ties to Terry Knowles and The Springfield PD, and talk to Bartt Streeter about his experience with the SPD. I hear about some interesting examples of the spirit of the SPD at the time, and try to uncover the reason behind why they won?t speak to me.

How a Tight-Knit Community is Forever Changed

In episode eighth and final episode of The Springfield Three, we look at Springfield now--nearly 30 years after the disappearance of Stacy, Suzie, and Sherrill, and I work to unpack how this has affected an entire community. These were three women, beloved by so many, that had so much in front of them. And there is a common narrative in this case. It kept coming up. In fact, I?d find that in almost every interview that I conducted, I?d hear the same thing. ?Things Like This Just Don?t Happen In Springfield Missouri.? But it did--and here?s what?s happening now.

The Questions That Remain

In episode seven of The Springfield Three, we dive into questions that remain. Because, really, there are so many questions. First and maybe most importantly, why and who would want to do this to Stacy, Suzie, and Sherrill? How did the perpetrator manage to get three healthy women out of the house with very little, if no, sign of struggle? How did three women just disappear? I?ll talk with local law enforcement and journalists to go over different scenarios and try to uncover the questions that remain.

What Went Wrong in the Investigation?

On episode six of the Springfield Three we uncover what went wrong in the investigation. To be perfectly clear, there are a lot of folks in Springfield?s law enforcement that want nothing more than to solve this case. But after a year of research, it seems to me that just about everyone points to one key person who could have possibly failed this case. I speak with him on this episode. And then there?s the scene of the disappearance...

Serial Killers and Potential Suspects

In episode five of The Springfield Three, we look at some of the potential suspects that emerge in this case. We talk about Steve Garrison, who is serving 40 years in prison for raping, sodomizing, and terrorizing a female college student in Springfield, Missouri in the summer of 1993, just a year after the three women went missing. There?s Larry DeWayne Hall, a serial killer and Civil War buff who traveled to the area often. Also, Gerald Carnahan, who murdered beauty-queen Jackie Johns from Nixa, Missouri?just a few minutes outside of Springfield. And finally, there?s Robert Craig Cox, a convicted murderer who claims to know exactly where the three women are buried?but won?t reveal this until his own mother dies.
