Things are shifting, the ground is soft underfoot. You can't trust where you're stepping, and collapse is imminent. But what does it mean to collapse? To fall, to crumple to the ground? To relax against someone, exhausted and needing that weight against you as comfort? To lose something intangible, something you didn't know was so integral to your very ability to stand on your own? To pull away the thing holding an entire place up, just to watch it crumble? Bea, Grace, Hollis, and Lennox are now faced with what it means to collapse. What waits for them on the other side? "Walk a mile in someone else's shoes and you'll understand them better," that's an approximation of the saying, right? Well, what about their socks? And their pants? And their shirt? And their skin? WOODBINE S2 - EMIEL HOLDINGS NEW EMPLOYEE VIDEO

Hello, and welcome. Here at Emiel, we like to think of ourselves as a community. A family, even. One not tied through blood - although that is a part of it, in a sense - but through a shared commitment. You help each other. You support each other. You stand by each other. That is how things work here. At the very least, it is the environment we hope to foster. Through hard work, the tireless efforts of our board of directors, and the dedication of our staff, we have grown from a small office in what is now Deer Park to a multi-faceted conglomerate with an ever-widening and diversifying portfolio. If you are lucky, you can become a part of it. Come, there is much to learn. Season 2 of Woodbine arrives September 24th, 2025. PROMO: StanLand E1 - "The Scion, the Glitch, and the IKEA Wardrobe"

Hello listeners, it's Alex. I've got one more thing for you to check out before spooky season. If you're looking for Woodbine, don't worry, we'll be back soon with Season 2 in the fall, but for now, if you're looking for something to listen to, you might want to check out StanLand, a new show on the Sonar network. When cynical podcaster Melanie Hughes vanishes without a trace, the only clue is her abandoned recorder, discovered by the side of a road, containing a story that begins with a dusty IKEA wardrobe? and ends in a magical realm slowly being swallowed up by fast food chains, retail shopping, and vape stores. Enter Zyngia: once a land of wonder, ruled by a talking lion, now a cautionary tale of what happens when fantasy meets modern consumerism. At the center of it all? Stan Little. Unemployed. Unremarkable. Possibly the last person you?d want on a magical quest. And yet? here we are. StanLand is a five-part satirical fantasy series written by Mike Sacks and S.G. Wilson, featuring Bobby Moynihan, Rhea Seehorn, Jon Hamm, John Waters and more. So here's episode one. You can find the rest on their feed wherever you get your podcasts. As for us, we'll be back in the fall with more Woodbine, so keep your ears out. We'll see you soon.   Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

10.5: SPICEBUSH

What flashes before your eyes as you die? Memories, thoughts big and small that nested somewhere in your brain, echoes you ignored. But in those final flashes, the silliest things can be brought to the forefront: Unimportant conversations, odd moments, even cases you never put that much importance in. Now, that last one only really applies if you work in a detective agency, to be fair. Sometimes small things make an outsized impression. But memories are malleable, fallible, easily made and easily broken. When you're running through them, how much of them can you trust? They twist and turn and bend and break with only the slightest amount of pressure. Do you understand? Rhys? Can you hear me? Rhys? Please wake up, please. You can only run for so long. At some point, you have to face your problems head on. Usually, you'd do this in therapy, but Grace is tired of platitudes and obfuscations and questions. She wants answers and there's only one person who can give them to her. But that means no more running, no more avoiding, no more looking away. You have to face your problems head on, no matter what happens, no matter what they bring. You have to stop running at some point. No matter what, the past will find you and it is not kind. 04: PAWPAW

The worst kind of joke is not one where no one laughs, but one where the joke-teller takes a violent, unyielding umbrage with your lack of mirth. The joke is on Grace when a not-so-funny artefact goes missing and someone from her past makes a sudden return. 01: ASH

Beatrice Ashe is having an incredibly average day, up until the part where she is brutally stabbed to death. Well, near death. Some people have bosses who meddle in their work, some have bosses who are little too quick to act, and some have bosses who will bring you back from the precipice of annihilation by turning you into a vampire. Now, Bea has some new problems, only one of which is the mystery around who did this to her and why.  CONTENT WARNING: violence, blood, death Featuring the voices of: Alex Nursall as Bea Emily Kellogg as Grace Taylor Davis as Aurelius Harlan Guthrie as Alden and Rob Deobald as Lennox Woodbine is an original podcast  Created, written, and produced by Alex Nursall and Emily Kellogg Showrunning and direction by Alex Nursall  Production and promotion by Emily Kellogg Engineering and sound design by Ian Boddy Theme by Phil Wright Music by Phil Wright and Ian Boddy Recorded at Pirate Sound Artwork by Andy Kelly Distributed by Realm You can find us on Instagram @woodbinepodcast Support us on Patreon at patreon.com/parkdalehaunt Transcripts, links, and more are available at woodbinepod.com Learn more about your ad choices. PARKDALE HAUNT: THE POST-MORTEM (Part 1)

Well hello again. It's been one year since the end of the show, so Alex, Emily, and Ian decided to sit down one more time to answer some outstanding listener questions, reflect on the series, and give a little insight into what's coming next... This is not a spoiler-free zone, so if you're new here, this might not be the best place to start. Also, we also talked for way longer than we originally expected, so this is Part 1 of 2. Surprise! BONUS: PARKDALE HAUNT PRESENTS "THE BIG SNOW"

It's the holiday season, and the light of the street lamps are dim in the thick snow that blankets the city. Toronto can be cold in the winter, but sometimes you come across a case that makes your blood turn to ice. Everything changed the night she walked into my office, and there's no going back now. 30: AMARANTHINE

AMARANTHINE: undying. Trust. Simple in theory ? do you have faith in someone, someone you love, someone you know, someone you care about? It can be difficult in practice, and there comes that moment where you ask yourself... how do you find faith in the darkness? Who do you place your confidence in? Who can you rely on? To the people we love, we say: ?Take this, please. It?s my heart, it?s my faith. Don?t break it. Don?t lose it. Don?t hurt it. Don?t hurt me.? Trust is the ability to lie in bed beside someone and, even in the most anxious of sleepless nights, know that you are safe. Trust is the knowledge that you will always find shelter from the worst of the world. Trust is the warmth of intertwined fingers. The steadying pressure of an embrace. Trust is a gift. Don?t break it. Don?t lose it. Don?t hurt it. Don?t hurt me. In the stygian darkness, who will stand beside you? Who will walk with you into hell? Who will walk out? Do you trust your friends? 29: QUIETUS

QUIETUS: final settlement (as of a debt).  "Glacial Lake Iroquois was a prehistoric proglacial lake that existed at the end of the last ice age approximately 13,000 years ago. The lake was essentially an enlargement of the present Lake Ontario that formed because the St. Lawrence River downstream from the lake was blocked by the ice sheet near the present Thousand Islands. The level of the lake was approximately 30 m (~100 ft) above the present level of Lake Ontario. The subsequent melting of the ice dam resulted in a sudden lowering of the lake to its present level [...]. Two ancient shorelines in the Toronto area mark the existence of former glacial lakes. About 2 km inland from the shore, a ridge known as the Iroquois Shoreline can be discerned. The old shoreline runs west-east, running roughly parallel to Davenport Road just south of St. Clair Avenue West. Further east, the Scarborough Bluffs also formed part of the shoreline of the ancient lake." (Wikipedia) Remember your past. Walk until your legs give out, head out to where the shore used to be and wait by the edge. Watch the city lights under darkness. Think about what is to come. Remember where the water once was. How do you prepare for the end? 28: CALIGINOUS

CALIGINOUS: misty, dim; obscure, dark. Starting anything with, "Webster's Dictionary defines..." is always a bad move, so I'll just say this: Family is whatever you need it to be. You can be born into it or you can build it. You can weave threads between yourself and others to create a web that holds you all within its strands. Family can be born and family can be broken, and family can leave you with more questions than answers. What do you need? Who does this make you? ERE LONG: (archaic) before long; soon. Claire lets off some steam while Judith and Owen go antique shopping. What? Not everything is doom and gloom, only most things. 23: MALISON

MALISON: (archaic) a curse. There is a certain amount of vulnerability you need to be able to have with someone to share a bed with them, to share a space, to go out in public unapologetically. There is a certain amount of courage and foolhardiness one must have to do these things while a plume of smoke starts to waft in your direction, as the winds change and the fires come ever closer. Judith, Claire, and Owen attempt tiny bits of normalcy while surrounded by an ever tightening ring of fire around them. The air grows thick and dark and all Judith wants is for things to be ok again (and also to have roasted fingerling potatoes). POLLARD: to cut off the top and branches of (a tree) to encourage new growth at the top; a deer which has cast its antlers.
