The Velvet Underground Pt V

As we conclude our series on The Velvet Underground we pick back up just after the band had split with one of it's founding members, John Cale. Leaving Lou Reed with full reign of the group in his pursuit for artistic notoriety and respect, but it was the addition of Doug Yule that lead to the release of their third album, the self titled "The Velvet Underground". And as this and their next record "Loaded", failed to reach the charts, the luster begins to fade for Lou, who would leave the group and go on to write the hit he had been striving for his entire career.

Kicking off with the first series, covering one of the most influential acts in musical history, The Velvet Underground. - In this episode we meet a young, complicated Lou Reed and learn how his friendship with John Cale and their mutual love of experimental music would lead to the formation of what would become The Velvet Underground.

Beastie Boys Pt VI

As our story of The Beasties comes to it's final stop, Carolina and Marcus breakdown a time in the group's career when they had already achieved greatness but strove to artistically take their sound to another level. Through new found collaborations and pulling from all of the creative elements that made up their earlier successes, the 3 MCs from NYC would go on to record "Hello Nasty" & some of the most memorable hits in their catalog. Lastly, with a new, slightly-more mature point of view, the Beastie Boys enter the swan song era of their career, which sadly ends in 2012 with the loss of founding member MCA Adam Yauch.
