Luke 16. Jesus told parables on money throughout His time on earth because He knew the power money could hold on people. Of all the false gods in this world, money is a strict master. No amount of money can save us, and those who have all the money they could ever need, find that joy is something they still lack without Jesus. Jesus provides everything we could ever need, and He will bless us as we use our money and resources for things of eternal value.

Jesus tells a series of three parables about the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. Clearly God is a God who longs to be reunited with those who are separated from Him. The story of the prodigal son is one that gives an intimate look into the heart of a Heavenly Father who waits and watches for the lost to return home. He is always drawing us, longing for reconciliation. He is a God who is compassionate, slow to anger, and ready to forgive.

Jesus gave one of the most amazing promises before He left this earth to return to His Father. He promised that those who put their faith in Him would receive a Helper! Jesus did not abandon us or leave us alone to face the hardships of this world. He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lives in us and is there to point us to Jesus, remind us of truth, and to lead us and guide us. The more we read the Bible, the more we will learn to hear His voice.

The world places self-love as the most important. The world says that "I" am the most important and what "I" want is all that matters. Jesus teaches a different Gospel. His Gospel is one that sets us free from the bondage of self. To live for Jesus and to surrender to His Lordship is the place where true peace and fulfillment can be found.

Luke 14.
Jesus told the parable of the Great Banquet. God has sent out the invitation through His Son, but the cares of this world have kept many from accepting His invitation. Entrance to the Great Banquet can only come through faith in Jesus Christ. He is our invitation to salvation.

There are many who live bound to sin and shame. There are many who live bound to fear and guilt and depression. If the New Testament is clear on anything, it is clear that Jesus came to set us free. For those who have put their faith in Him, freedom is yours, and for those who haven't, while it is still today, put your faith in Him and He has promised to set you free. Salvation is freedom from despair, death, depression and so much more. Those who are in Christ Jesus have been set free unto life!

Jesus made it clear that those who not only hear what He says, but also does what He says, are like those who build their house on a firm foundation. The storms of life will come, but when we have built our foundation on Jesus, nothing will be able to shake us.

Luke 12:13-34.
Jesus called the man who became rich in this life but not rich towards God a fool. There is nothing wrong with saving and building wealth, but if that is all we seek for our salvation and security, then we are considered fools. To be rich towards God is to seek Him first in all things, His righteousness, and all the things we need will be added unto us. God has promised He would provide as we put our trust in Him. It's time to do a heart check to see where our desires lie. Do you desire Jesus above all else?

Mary and Martha were sisters, but were very different people. Mary recognized that Jesus would only be with them for a brief time, and so she chose to place all of her attention upon Jesus by sitting at His feet. Jesus gently rebuked Martha that she had let the worries and anxieties of life become distractions. May we never be so distracted that we fail to see that Jesus is right in our midst, wanting to spend time with us. That is the better choice.

Mark 7:24-37
The Syrophoenician mother had a desperate faith. Her faith would not let go of Jesus. She had heard of and possibly seen His great miracles. She could not and would not believe that a power that great and that loving would be limited to one people group. The faith of the Syrophoenician woman caught the attention of Jesus. She wasn't the only woman in the New Testament to amaze Jesus with such faith. Clearly, Jesus values our faith. Don't give up. Without faith, it's impossible to please God.

John 4. The Samaritan woman did not realize that she was talking to Jesus, the Son of God, the Messiah who had come to save the world. What Jesus offered to her, He offers to us today...living water. That living water is the Holy Spirit living inside of us. The Holy Spirit fulfills our every need. He is hope in dark times. He is healer and comforter. He is life. For those who put their trust in Jesus, they will never thirst again.

John 3. One of the most powerful conversations in the New Testament is when Jesus told Nicodemus he must be "born again" to enter the kingdom of God. What does it mean to be born again? Jesus explained that those who are born again are born of the Spirit. When we put our faith in Jesus, we receive new life, eternal life. This life in the Spirit gives us authority as children of God to live for Him and glorify His name until He returns!

Matthew 14:1-12. John the Baptist was not afraid to call out sin and speak the truth, even when it meant being thrown in prison. He lived his life faithfully as a servant of the Lord, even to the very end. Life may not look how we plan or think it should, but as we put our faith and hope in Jesus, He is working all things for good. We cannot see it with our physical eyes, but the kingdom of God is for all who believe in Jesus, and the kingdom of God is one of righteousness, peace and joy. It is unshakeable and eternal. John's life did not end in fame and accolades, but Jesus said that John was the greatest of all men. John's commitment to righteousness and truth made him a voice speaking truth and light into the darkness.

Matthew 20:1-16. Jesus gave many parables that teach us what the kingdom of God is like. In this parable, we see how God is so gracious to extend His invitation of eternal life to those who put their faith in Jesus even up until the last hour of their life. God gives generously to all who would accept His Son as their Lord and Savior. Receive His invitation while it's still called Today. Even when we think we've messed up, or it's too late for us, God is extending His invitation to receive His gift of eternal life through His Son, Jesus.

Matthew 18:21-35.
Jesus told a parable that illustrates what it means to forgive. We sometimes think that we have a right to hold onto unforgiveness when we are wronged, but when we become Christians, we become a part of the Kingdom of God, and forgiveness is the currency of the Kingdom of God. God commands that we forgive others because we have been so graciously forgiven. Who are we to make others repay for their sins against us when we have been released of the debt that we could never repay? This parable speaks of a serious truth for those who choose not to forgive. Unforgiveness blocks our relationship with God our Father, and we cannot move forward as followers of Jesus if we hold unforgiveness in our hearts. The Holy Spirit is able to help us to do this, not in our own strength, but by His power in us, can we forgive others when we are hurt and wronged.

Mark 10:13-31. Jesus calls us to surrender our whole lives to follow Him. Are there things you might be putting your faith in other than Jesus? Are there people you are placing as more important than Jesus? If Jesus asked you to choose Him first, would you be able to? The rich young man in the story was not able to give away all he had to follow Jesus. He loved his money too much. Anything that becomes more important than Jesus is an idol, a false god. God commands that we worship Him and Him alone. Are there possible idols in your heart that could be keeping you from fully surrendering to Jesus today? Let Him have everything, and in return He promises eternal life, hope, joy, peace and so much more. What Jesus has to offer is better than anything this world can offer.

Vineyards were grown everywhere in Israel during the time of Jesus. When He said, "I am the vine," His followers would have understand what a vine is and does. As the vine, Jesus gives us life. He produces the fruits of His Holy Spirit living in us. Without Him, we cannot bear fruit. He produces the fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. As we remain in Him as the vine, He causes us to grow and look more like Him.

Luke 10: 25-37. To follow Jesus is to follow Him in faith and action. We reflect Jesus to a hurting and broken world by what we say and do. The parable of The Good Samaritan shows us who our neighbor is. It is anyone who needs us when it is in our power and ability to help them. The Holy Spirit will enable us to love others with mercy and compassion just as Jesus has loved us.

Mark 9:14-35. The disciples were arguing among themselves concerning who was the greatest. They were concerned about who had the most influence. Doesn't that sound like the world we live in today? Everyone wants to be an influencer, but who is willing to be a servant? In today's episode, we learn what it means to be the least in the Kingdom of God.
