EP # 108 | Critical Race Theory

Critical Race Theory, or CRT for short, is, for many professing evangelicals today, a philosophy that is steeped in confusion and ambiguity. That is by design. In this expanded episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil ?Omaha? Walker spend more than three hours unpacking the origins, tenets, and threats that Critical Race Theory poses not only to the evangelical church, but to society as a whole.

EP # 106 | A Biblical Exposition of Unity

Subsequent to the presidential election held in the United States on November 3, 2020, many evangelical leaders, primarily on social media, began exhorting Christians to come together in a spirit of unity around the presumed incoming administration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Notwithstanding that, officially, the outcome of the aforementioned contest had yet to be determined, a fundamental question remains: What kind of unity is acceptable to the church and, more importantly, to God? In their final episode of the 2020 podcast season, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker answer that question expositionally?and unequivocally?from Scripture.

EP # 104 | Breonna Taylor and the Gospel

In the wake of the killing of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year old black woman, by Louisville, KY police officers on March 13, 2020?and the subsequent decision by a grand jury to not charge the officers with murder?many people, including many professing Christians, are nevertheless calling for ?justice? for Breonna Taylor. But was ?justice? not done? More importantly, what is ?justice? to begin with? What should ?justice? actually look like in society? Is ?justice? primarily a matter of subjective standards or of objective truth? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil (?Omaha?) Walker bring some hard biblical truths to the issue of ?justice? in this special episode of the Just Thinking podcast.

EP # 100 | A Biblical Exposition of ?White Culture?

Recently, the National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) posted on its website an infographic titled ?Aspects & Assumptions of Whiteness & White Culture in the United States.? The infographic, which has since been removed from the NMAAHC website, outlined 14 areas that, in the opinion of the NMAAHC, are rooted in ?whiteness? and ?white culture.? In this special episode of the Just Thinking Podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil ?Omaha? Walker conduct an in-depth analysis of the infographic through the lens of Scripture. EP # 099 | Assurance of Salvation

To be a Christian is, by definition, to possess salvation and all that it entails (forgiveness of sin, adoption as children of God, eternal reward in heaven, and much more). And yet, many professing Christians struggle to believe the promises that salvation brings because they don't possess the assurance that they are saved to begin with. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil ("Omaha") show you from God's Word that assurance can be yours forever.

EP # 096 | Christian Contentment

Adversity has a way of revealing our true selves, especially during times of trial that seem to last for a prolonged period of time. It is during those times that Christians must guard against allowing the sin of discontentment to take root in our hearts. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and ?Omaha? (Virgil) discuss what God?s Word has to say about how Christians can be genuinely content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.

EP # 095 | Pornography in the Church

The statistics tell the story ? pornography is a destroyer. It destroys marriages, families, careers, and reputations. In other words, pornography destroys lives. Christians are not immune to this scourge. And yet pornography remains one of the least-addressed issues in the church today. In one of the most crucial episodes ever produced by the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil (?Omaha?) look to Scripture for answers to why pornography is such a problem for so many ? including within the church ? and how the gospel of Christ can lead to freedom from its unmerciful enslavement.

?Because of technical difficulties related to increased Internet usage as a result of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, you may notice intermittent instances of audio interference. We sincerely apologize.?

EP # 093 | A Biblical Theology of the Role of Government

With the U.S. presidential elections only months away, many Christians, particularly young believers, are supporting candidates who endorse a socialist view of government. More specifically, the idea that it is the role of government to promote social equality. But is such a view of government biblical? In this extended episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil ?Omaha? Walker take an in-depth look into the Scriptures?and history?to answer that question.

EP # 092 | Racial Reconciliation?

EP # 088 | The Grace of God

As the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach, the grace of God will be the focus of many pulpits and households around the world. But do we really understand what the grace of God is and means and why it is important that we, as Christians, thank God for His grace? Listen as Darrell and ?Omaha? (Virgil) discuss what the Bible teaches doctrinally about the grace of God and why the church needs to recommit itself to take that doctrine more seriously than it does currently.

EP # 087 | Politics and the Black Church

As Christians, to what degree should one?s theology shape or influence his or her view of politics? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and ?Omaha? (Virgil) discuss that question in light of a comment made recently on social media by Bishop Paul S. Morton. Morton, a black man, urged black Christians who are considering supporting Democrat candidate Pete Buttigieg a biological male who is ?married? to a biological male, for president in 2020, to stand on the biblical definition of marriage, and why Morton paid a price for making such a comment.

EP # 086 | Playing God

An almost unfathomable situation is currently unfolding in Texas where Dr. Anne Georgulas, the mother of 7-year old James Younger, a biological male, is engaged in a legal battle with the boy?s father, Jeffrey Younger, over whether Georgulas has the right to subject James to ?transition? James to a girl against the wishes of his father. The potential ramifications of this case, regardless of the outcome, are not only legal or sociological but theological. Listen as Darrell and Virgil (Omaha) discuss this situation through the lens of the objective truth of the Word of God.

EP # 084 | When Forgiveness Isn?t Woke Enough

Amber Guyer, a 31-year old white female and former Dallas, Texas police officer, was recently convicted of murder in the shooting death of 26-year old Botham Jean, a black man. Guyer was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison. During the penalty phase of Guyer?s trial, Botham Jean?s younger brother, Brandt, shocked the courtroom?and the world?by verbally forgiving Guyer and hugging her (to the tears of many in the courtroom.) But for many people, including some who profess to be Christian, Brandt Jean?s offer of forgiveness was not a gesture to be lauded or applauded. Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss some of the reasons why Jean?s offer of forgiveness wasn?t ?woke? enough for some professing Christians.

EP # 083 | Black Athletes and White Colleges

Is it time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges? According to American Sports Journalist Jemele Hill, the answer to this question is, ?YES!?  However, this seems to be another form of tribalist separation that has nothing to do with the best interest of the Black Athlete.  Hill has written on the subject and makes her case.  However, in this episode, Virgil ?Omaha? examines that Hill?s case to determine if  there?s any merit to her argument.

EP # 081 | Black Nationalism, White Fatherlessness

In this episode Virgil ?Omaha? Walker discusses one of the biggest threats to the so-called ?black community? and it is not ?White Nationalism.?  Virgil walks through the idea that the internal threat impacting the ?black community? is Black Nationalism packaged with all kinds of immoral behavior, seemingly ignored, often overlooked, and at times rewarded on the basis of historic racism in America.  Listen as he unpacks this idea in this episode of Just Thinking.

EP # 080 | Guns and Gardens

More than thirty souls have entered into eternity as a result of two mass shootings that occurred recently in the cities of El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. As usual, when such events happen, people react by asking questions and pointing fingers. But how are followers of Christ to respond when incidents like mass shootings happen? Who really is to blame? Listen as Darrell and Virgil look to the Word of God for answers to these and other related questions.

EP # 079 | One Church, One Body

Unity within the body of Christ continues to be a much-discussed topic among evangelicals today. But as much as it has been talked about in recent years evangelicals, especially in America, continue to be divided, particularly along ethnic lines. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and ?Omaha? (Virgil Walker) argue that such divisions should not exist among believers, as we are all one in Christ.

EP # 078 | Black Lives Matter and Abortion

A recent New York Times article is promoting the decades-long narrative that high abortion rates among black women are the direct result of socio-economic conditions that give those women no choice but to abort their unborn children. It is a narrative that is wholeheartedly embraced by many black Christian leaders today as a matter of ?social justice.? But is that narrative biblical? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) look to the Scriptures to understand how believers are to respond when Black Lives Matter is invoked in the abortion debate.

EP # 074 | An Unnecessary Debate

A debate is brewing, among Christians of various denominational persuasions, on the question of whether women should be ordained as pastors and elders in the church. It is a debate that is dividing family members, friends, and churches. But should there even be a debate at all? Listen as Darrell and Virgil make the case that this debate is an entirely unnecessary one, as Scripture has clearly spoken on the issue.

The Equality Act of 2019 is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation to be introduced in Congress in our lifetime. And yet many Americans, as well as many Christians, seem to not care. Listen as Darrell and Virgil explain in this two-part series of episodes why you, as a Christian, should care about what is being proposed in the Equality Act of 2019 under the pretense of ?civil rights.?

EP # 068 | Singles, Dating and Marriage

For countless Christians who are single, being single is more of a dilemma than a calling. So how is a single Christian to navigate between the desire to be married and God?s will? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) discuss this very important topic from a biblical worldview.

EP # 066 | The Resurrection of Jesus

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is unarguably the most central pillar in terms of Christian orthodoxy. For centuries, the Church has had to defend this doctrine against numerous heretical attacks that have come against it. And yet, today, many professing believers fail to grasp the temporal and eternal significance of this momentous event in their personal lives. Listen as Darrell and Virgil (?Omaha?) discuss this most crucial of all Christian doctrines, and why Christians?and the Church?must understand and be prepared to defend the truth about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

EP # 065 | Capitalism

It?s clear, the battle lines have been drawn from the left and the right.  Those on the left believe Socialism is the right path forward.  Those on the right disagree holding to the Capitalism that has made the country prosperous.  The question that needs to be asked has little to do with one?s political affiliation. Instead we should be asking, ?What does the Bible have to say about economics?  Has God outlined through the Scriptures the economic path forward for those who believe in Christ?? Listen to this episode as Virgil examines these questions and much more.  Let?s put Capitalism through the lens of a Biblical Worldview.

Key text: Genesis 1:26-28

EP # 064 | Worldliness in the Church

The late Dr. R.C. Sproul, Sr. once said, ?My life didn?t get difficult until I became a Christian.? To be a Christian is, by definition, so separate oneself from his or her former life in the world. And yet, that separation doesn?t come easy as to live in this world is a constant struggle to not be of this world. Listen as Darrell and Virgil discuss the issue of worldliness in terms of what it is and what it means for believers to not succumb to it.

Key text: 1 John 2:15-17.

EP # 062 | A Biblical Theology of Socialism

To say that socialism is gaining in popularity in the United States would an understatement. But to say the same about the Church is both disheartening and concerning. Why are increasing numbers of professing evangelical Christians attracted to a worldview that is so antithetical to biblical orthodoxy? Listen to this expanded episode as Darrell and Virgil dive deep into the Scriptures and expose socialism for the unbiblical worldview it really is.

EP # 061 | Born-Alive Act

Recently, the United States Senate failed to pass the ?Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act? or what is commonly known as the ?Born-Alive Act?. The legislation, was aimed at protecting the lives of babies who were born alive after surviving an attempted abortion. Notwithstanding the role of elected politicians in failing to pass what appears to most people be the common-sense thing to do, what responsibility, if any, do Christians have in this outcome? Listen as Darrell and Virgil make a case from Scripture that Christians are as much to blame as politicians for what happened in the Senate concerning this legislation.

EP # 060 | Sexual Sin in the Church

Sexual immorality is one of the most devastating sins confronting the church today, destroying marriages, families, and ministries. And yet, despite this reality, sexual sin?both individually and corporately?remains one of the least-addressed sins from the pulpits of evangelical churches today. Listen as Darrell and ?Omaha? deal head-on with this destructive sin by reminding believers of the reason they were saved to begin with.
