#372: He's not Here.... He's Alive!

John 19, Matthew 28, Luke 23, & 1 Corinthians 15:55

In this powerful Easter episode, we continue our journey following the sorrow of the cross to the joy of the resurrection. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus lovingly bury Jesus, and guards are posted at the tomb. But on the third day, something incredible happens—Jesus rises from the dead! With awe and joy, the women discover the empty tomb and meet Jesus alive again. Children are reminded that the cross was not the end—Jesus conquered sin and death, just like He said He would. Because He lives, we have forgiveness and hope!

#371: The Saddest Day and the Greatest Gift

Matthew 27, John18 & 19 , &  Luke 23

I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of this for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.

We begin our story with Jesus speaking with Pilate and end with the crucifixion.

The kids will hear:

-The meaning of the torn veil (listen to episode #281 to go further)

-This was God's plan; there were no mistakes, no surprises. Jesus chose to lay down His life, and by doing so, Jesus took the weight of every sin, past, present, and future.

-It's not always as it seems. The cross is not the end of the story. We have hope because of what happened 3 days later!

#370: The Garden where Jesus Talked to God

Matthew 26:36-56

We continue our Easter series.  I respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.

I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. It starts at #369.

This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why?

Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much!

The children will be reminded that Jesus is always in control and that He loves them very much!

#369: A Supper to Remember

Matthew 26, John 13, &  1John 1:9

We begin our Easter series with:

Hearing Jesus, the king of kings, serving and loving his disciples by washing their feet. Introduce the betrayal BUT remind kids that Jesus was not alarmed by this. Jesus knows everything and this isn't "throwing off his plans."  Learn the significance of the passover (We keep it age appropriate; if you want help talking further about the passover, head over to my IG @kidsbiblestories ) Explain the connection of the last supper and communion.

As always it will be a fun journey that engages the kids and is explained on their level so they can apply and remember it. We want them to know that God's word is for them, He loves them, and they can know Him!

# 362: Bad Stew - Elisha Part 7

2 Kings 4:38-41

We continue our Elisha series as we dive into the scripture about the “Bad Stew.” During a famine in Gilgal, Elisha shows how God can take even the scariest situations and turn them into miracles. When poisonous gourds accidentally get added to a pot of stew for the prophets, God uses Elisha to fix the problem. This story reminds us of God’s power to care for us and teaches the importance of trusting Him, using wisdom, and seeking guidance when we face problems. I also address that God gives us wisdom to make smart choices, and when kids are unsure, they should talk to their parents for guidance.

# 361: Elisha and the Boy Who Sneezed Back to Life - Elisha part 6

 2 Kings 4:18-37 & John 9:1-3

In today’s episode, we continue our exciting Elisha series with the incredible story of how God used Elisha to bring a boy back to life! We’ll pick up where we left off: the boy grew up strong and healthy, but one day, tragedy struck. What followed was a journey of faith, hope, and an unforgettable miracle.

We discuss what to do when we pray for a miracle and it doesn't happen how we hoped it would. This woman and her son's story ended up beautifully but there were many that same day who lost loved ones too. I also use John 9 to discuss some of the lies kids may hear about the why behind sad events.

Tune in to hear how God displayed His power and love through Elisha and what it means for us today.

God used different people, events, etc but it allllllll happened just as He said it would. Today?s episode continues our journey with Elisha and the three kings. When the Israelites were in need, God performed an amazing miracle?filling the land with water, even though there was no rain! In today?s episode, we dive into the topic of suffering since some of you have been requesting this. Now, there is A LOT to teach kids about suffering  and we are only covering 1 sliver of this so make sure to address any questions they have since we can?t cover it all in 1 episode.

We?ll talk about what suffering is, what the Bible says about it, and how even difficult times can help us grow in our faith. We'll also hear from Paul, who faced many challenges like shipwrecks and imprisonment, and yet, told us why we are to rejoice in our sufferings. Kids will hear how suffering can produce endurance, character, and hope, and hear an encouraging example from nature about wildfires and new growth.

KBS hit by Hurricane Helene update!

We are safe and well but are still without Internet and cell phone. This makes it quite difficult to upload or edit  episodes for sound effects,  music etc.

This is not our usual episode but I wanted to get this information out to you as well as encourage the kids from what we have learned during the storm. We have seen God show up in beautiful ways and have seen people be the hands and feet of Christ during it. I hope it encourages kids and reminds them of God's goodness and provision even during storms; whether it's a literal or figurative storm in their life.

We appreciate your patience as we await for some of the infrastructure where we live to get up and going. Please pray for those men and women who have been working 15 hour das on the powerlines, fixing the water system, and those helping the community. Please pray for those who lost everything. So many have lost businesses or homes and most don't have flood insurance because this event was such a rare situation.

You can contact me here https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and know I will respond once I am able to get a signal.

From the Archive- Do I Have to?

Colossians 3:12-17 & Ephesians 5:20

Today we read Paul's letter to the Colossians. He writes, " And whatever you do, whether in word or action, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." The kids will learn that this really means in whatever we do. We don't give thanks or serve God only when we are having fun or getting a gift.  To help them understand, we use real life examples: Instead of complaining that they they have to clean up their toys, they can remember they get to clean them up because they are thankful God gave them toys to clean up. I hope  today's episode reminds your family of God's truth and encourages conversations.

Saul, notorious for persecuting Christians, has been blinded following his dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Despite knowing Saul's fearsome reputation, Ananias obeys God's command and what happens? Saul gets baptized; setting Saul on a new path as a follower of Jesus.

333: God Answers the 5 Sisters

Numbers 27:1-11. Join us on one of  Bible's lesser-known scriptures in our new series: "Hidden Gems: The Lesser-Known Stories of the Bible." In this episode, we explore the courageous scripture of the five Daughters of Zelophehad. Join us as we uncover how these remarkable sisters stood up in order to inherit their father?s land; a bold move that led to a historic change in the law.

Key Takeaways:

Faith in Action: These sisters demonstrated profound faith and determination. Believing that God would provide for them, they took action, which reminds us that faith often requires us to step forward and act.

God's Just: The story highlights God?s commitment to justice. When Moses sought God?s guidance, He affirmed the sisters' plea, showing that God values the rights and inheritances of all His people, including women. Kids will remember that this was a first. Most cultures then didn?t value children and women but God changes that. Legacy of Change: The decision in favor of the Daughters of Zelophehad didn?t just affect their immediate situation?it instituted a new law that impacted the entire community. This shows how courageous actions can lead to significant societal changes.
