In this episode of Somewhere in the Skies Classics, Ryan speaks with Brian Bethel, the man behind one of the earliest and most chilling accounts of the Black-Eyed Kids. In 1996, Bethel was sitting alone in his car in Abilene, Texas, when two young boys approached asking for a ride. Something about them filled him with overwhelming fear, then he saw their completely black eyes. Bethel recounts the terrifying encounter, how his story spread across the early internet and helped ignite the BEK phenomenon, and what he believes may lurk behind those dark, soulless eyes. Ryan and Suzanne are back with the latest UFO news, including 3 new whistleblowers who recently came forward in a new Steven Greer documentary about military UFO encounters. Then, they share 4 UFO Reddit stories about other military encounters that defy explanation. From a mysterious craft discovered deep in the jungles of Vietnam and soldiers opening fire on a UFO in Iraq, to 90 minutes of missing time and the shocking recovery of an alleged alien body at a U.S. Air Force base. Are these extraordinary military encounters evidence of something otherworldly, or is there more to these stories than meets the eye? Lastly, they break down the latest claims made by David Grusch in a recent interview with Joe Rogan. Buckle up... this one takes so twists and turns you'll never see coming! We are joined by author and researcher, Peter Robbins, to investigate the mysterious death of James Forrestal, America's first Secretary of Defense. On May 22nd, 1949, Forrestal plunged from the sixteenth floor of Bethesda Naval Hospital, sparking decades of controversy and conspiracy theories. With alleged ties to Majestic 12, a rumored secret government group investigating crashed UFOs, questions remain. Did Forrestal know too much about UFOs and extraterrestrial technology? Was his death a tragic suicide, or was something far more sinister at play? In October 1973, a woman living near Cincinnati, Ohio, awoke in the middle of the night to a brilliant light shining through her bedroom window. Looking outside, she witnessed several glowing UFOs hovering silently above her front lawn. Then, standing beyond the mysterious craft, she saw something even more unsettling. It was a tall humanoid figure watching from the darkness. One of Ohio's most chilling UFO encounters, this little-known case continues to raise questions more than 50 years later. In this episode of Somewhere in the Skies, Ryan is joined by active UK police officer Inspector Roy Teague, author of Close Encounters of the Police Kind. Drawing on nearly 27 years in policing, Teague has interviewed more than 300 current and former officers about their encounters with UFOs and other unexplained phenomena. His new book collects 75 of the most compelling cases, many told publicly for the first time. Teague takes us inside extraordinary reports involving police helicopters encountering mysterious craft over London, officers pursuing, and being pursued by UFOs, massive black triangles, missing time, alleged abductions, and even a possible implant discovered behind an officer’s eye. He also discusses the stigma officers still face when reporting UFOs, the lack of formal UAP reporting protocols within UK policing, patterns he has uncovered across decades of testimony, and why he believes these witnesses deserve to be heard. We explore Teague’s approach to investigating these accounts, what police training can bring to UFO testimony, and how compiling hundreds of reports has transformed his own view of the phenomenon. In this episode of Somewhere in the Skies Classics, we revisit one of the most compelling and well-documented UFO cases in Canadian history: the Shag Harbour UFO Incident. On the night of October 4, 1967, residents along the coast of Nova Scotia watched a mysterious object descend toward the waters near Shag Harbour and seemingly disappear beneath the surface. What followed was an official search-and-rescue operation, military involvement, eyewitness testimony, and a paper trail that would help cement the incident as one of the most intriguing UFO mysteries ever investigated by the Canadian government. In this Somewhere in the Skies Classic, we revisit one of the most extraordinary and controversial alien abduction cases in UFO history: The Andreasson Affair. Beginning in Massachusetts in 1967, Betty Andreasson’s alleged encounter involved strange beings entering her home, missing time, medical procedures, telepathic communication, and deeply spiritual experiences, claims that would later undergo an extensive investigation led by renowned UFO researcher Raymond Fowler. Ryan is joined by veteran UFO researcher Peter Robbins to explore the case’s place in the history of abduction research, its connections to the paranormal and spirituality, the role of hypnosis and witness testimony, and the skepticism and controversy that continue to surround it. As today’s UFO conversation increasingly expands beyond nuts-and-bolts craft into questions of consciousness, perception, and the nature of anomalous experience, the Andreasson Affair may be more relevant than ever. Richard Dolan returns for a deep dive into the hidden history of USOs and some of the most extraordinary cases from his latest research. Dolan takes us aboard U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines, into Soviet-era underwater mysteries, and beneath the waters of Lake Baikal as we explore decades of strange encounters at sea.  We examine the 1971 USS John F. Kennedy incident, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt encounter, the mysterious Soviet “Croakers,” the alleged Lake Baikal swimmers, the Lummi Island incident, and a bizarre encounter involving the USS Saratoga in the Bermuda Triangle. Then we turn to the UFO conversation today. Dolan weighs in on PURSUE Tranche 6, the newly released UAP videos and historical documents, Edward Ruppelt’s recovered 1952 audio, the AAWSAP/DIA studies, whistleblower waivers, Christopher Mellon’s criticism of the Wall Street Journal, and the continuing push for UFO disclosure. We also explore whether artificial intelligence could play a role in understanding, or even communicating with, non-human intelligence, before asking a bigger question: Has ufology become too focused on Washington and disclosure while losing sight of the actual UFO encounters happening around the world?  Find all of Richard Dolan's work: https://richarddolanmembers.com/ Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/somewhereskies ByMeACoffee: http://www.buymeacoffee.com/UFxzyzHOaQ Send us a voicemail: https://www.speakpipe.com/SomewhereSkiesPod Substack: https://ryansprague.substack.com/ All socials and books: https://linktr.ee/somewhereskiespod Email: [email protected] Opening theme song by Septembryo Closing song by Per Kiilstofte Copyright © 2026 Ryan Sprague. In Witness Accounts: Volume 42, we return to the heart of the podcast: YOU, the witnesses. Four people share encounters they’ve carried with them for years. A strange illuminated craft in Florida transforms into three lights. A massive black triangle silently hovers over a field in Ontario before vanishing. A glowing sphere drifts over an Oregon neighborhood in broad daylight. And U.S. Army veteran Vince Hall shares a deeply personal encounter with a bluish-white orb while deployed in Baghdad, Iraq. As UFOs become increasingly consumed by government investigations and disclosure debates, these stories remind us why I started this show in the first place. Behind every sighting is a person whose life may have been changed forever, once again proving, YOU are the disclosure. Special thanks to Tim, K.G, Patrick, and Vince for sharing their stories. For more than seven decades, this extraordinary recording remained buried in government archives. Now, as part of the PURSUE Tranche 6 UFO file release, the complete 1952 “Flying Saucer Talk” by Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, the U.S. Air Force officer who led Project Blue Book, is finally available to hear. Recorded on March 26, 1952, Ruppelt discusses the Air Force investigation into flying saucers, including credible military and pilot sightings, unexplained cases, activity near sensitive installations, radar observations, extraordinary speeds, and efforts to gather better photographic and scientific data. Despite extensive investigation, a significant percentage of cases remained unexplained. More than 70 years later, the parallels are striking: military witnesses, radar detections, unusual performance characteristics, sensitive locations, limited data, and a persistent percentage of cases that resist conventional explanation. Listen to Edward J. Ruppelt’s complete 1952 presentation, newly released in PURSUE Tranche 6. Tranche 6 of the PURSUE UFO/UAP files have released. Ryan breaks it down in real-time, reacting to the latest documents, videos, and an hour long audio recording from former Project Blue Book director, Edward Ruppelt, that's been buried since 1952. What does Tranche 6 add to the growing public record on UFOs, UAP, government investigations, and disclosure? The Men in Black have haunted UFO lore for more than 70 years. Mysterious visitors. Black suits and black cars. Threatening phone calls. Surveillance. Strange questions. And an unsettling warning: stop talking about what you saw. We explore five chilling first-person accounts involving alleged encounters with the infamous Men in Black, and, in one case, a mysterious Woman in Black. A UFO sighting at Joshua Tree is followed by two eerie men claiming to represent the U.S. Air Force. A military air traffic controller tracks a mysterious object over Afghanistan before two pale men arrive and insist it was only a glitch. After a massive UFO sighting near San Diego, a couple receives bizarre phone calls before supposed "FBI agents" appear at their home. A military veteran encounters two suspicious "roofers" after publicly discussing his UFO experiences. And a longtime investigator is visited by a mysterious woman carrying photographs of his encounter that he never took. What happens when a UFO sighting becomes something much closer? From police officers witnessing a landed UFO and humanoid occupants in 1950s France to travelers followed by a craft in Australia, towering entities in Spain, strange visitors at a woman’s front door in Brazil, and mysterious beings emerging from landed craft in the Philippines, these cases push the boundaries of the unexplained. We also explore a figure materializing inside a Florida bedroom, humanoids observed through a UFO over Norway, a pale “Grey” emerging from the woods in Illinois, and humanlike silhouettes aboard a bizarre craft over Germany. Across these accounts are recurring details: UFO landings, alien beings, missing time, paralysis, strange lights, electromagnetic disturbances, and physical traces. We look beyond the lights in the sky and ask what happens when the unknown comes face-to-face with us. We Haven’t Seen You in a While: A five-year-old awakens to find a Grey peering from inside their closet and receives a chilling telepathic invitation suggesting this may not be their first encounter. We Saw a Grey in Hawaii... Then Lost 15 Hours: A couple vacationing in Kauai encounters a towering Grey outside their elevated patio, only to inexplicably forget the experience until the terrifying memory suddenly returns a year later. I Possessed a Dog During an Alien Abduction: A bizarre alleged abduction begins with a Grey performing an invasive procedure and unfolds into fragmented memories of hybrid children, telepathic tests, strange entities, military personnel and the witness apparently entering and controlling the body of a dog. Could the Cote Photo be one of the clearest UFO photographs ever captured? We are joined by filmmakers Adam Pillon and Megan Woomer to explore their new documentary, The Cote Photo, investigating the mysterious disc shaped object photographed over Lake Cote, Costa Rica, during an official government aerial mapping mission in 1971. We discuss the photo’s government provenance, analysis by Jacques Vallée and Richard Haines, a modern high resolution scan, theories surrounding the object and Lake Cote, and the remarkable story of cartographer Sergio Loaiza. Adam and Megan also share strange synchronicities from making the film and why, more than 50 years later, the Cote Photo remains one of UFO history’s most enduring mysteries. Ryan sits down with Australian author and Somewhere in the Skies contributing writer, Violeta M. Bagia, for a deep dive into some of Australia’s most compelling and overlooked UFO cases. From the strange 1954 Dandenong saucer sighting and the terrifying 1988 Knowles family encounter to the controversial photographs of Eric Thomason, Violeta shares what she’s uncovered while digging through Australia’s UFO archives. They also explore alien abductions, the stigma still facing experiencers, and whether today’s government-driven UAP conversation has lost some of the mystery and wonder that once defined UFOlogy. In 1976, police officer George Wheeler reported encountering a massive UFO and being struck by a beam of light that knocked him to the ground. Six months later, he was dead. Other witnesses reported unusual activity surrounding the encounter, adding further intrigue to an already remarkable case. Even more compelling, Wheeler’s experience was part of a broader wave of UFO sightings reported throughout Elmwood, Wisconsin before and after that night. What was happening over this quiet Midwestern town? And could Wheeler’s mysterious encounter have somehow contributed to his untimely death? In Witness Accounts: Volume 41, we hear seven extraordinary firsthand encounters with the unexplained. From enormous black triangles hovering silently overhead and mysterious silver spheres crossing the daytime sky, to a rotating cone that seemingly vanished into thin air and a fighter jet apparently pursuing an unidentified orb, these witnesses share experiences that challenged everything they thought they knew. The evening was quiet as Adrian sat on his balcony in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, taking in the calm. His attention was suddenly drawn to movement near a neighboring stretch of farmland. At first, he assumed it was a child ducking beneath a barbed-wire fence. But as the figure emerged, something felt wrong. It wore a strange, reflective helmet and carried a gleaming object in its hand. In that instant, Adrian realized he wasn't looking at a child at all. Whatever stood before him was something entirely different. Former law enforcement officer Chuck Zukowski has spent more than three decades investigating some of America's most compelling UFO encounters, following trails that many authorities abandoned long ago. Alongside his son, Daniel, and paranormal investigator Heather Taddy, he travels the desolate backroads, forgotten towns, and remote landscapes that have earned the nickname "America's Alien Highway." Together, they reexamine overlooked cases, uncover evidence that others have missed, and earn the trust of witnesses who have remained silent for years, hoping to uncover the truth behind one of the world's greatest mysteries. Now, Chuck Zukowski and Heather Taddy join me to pull back the curtain on their investigations, sharing the stories, discoveries, and behind-the-scenes moments that never made it to television. As the conversation around UFOs continues to evolve, one of the most overlooked aspects of the mystery is finally getting the attention it deserves: children. With renewed interest in landmark cases like the 1994 Ariel School encounter, now is the perfect time to revisit this conversation about some of the most compelling child witness accounts in UFO history. In this Somewhere in the Skies Classic, Ryan is joined by UFO researcher and paranormal travel writer Michael Huntington to explore famous cases including Fatima, Flatwoods, Westall, Broad Haven, Voronezh, and Ariel School. Together, they examine why children so often find themselves at the center of these extraordinary events and whether their accounts offer a unique perspective on the UFO phenomenon. We’re joined by U.S. Air Force veteran Christopher Bartel, a former employee of both Area 51 and Skinwalker Ranch, for a candid look behind the curtain of two of the world's most enigmatic locations. After eight years with Robert Bigelow's BAASS, including six stationed at Skinwalker Ranch, Bartel recounts the extraordinary events he witnessed, the Native American history he documented through his acclaimed Skinwalker Ranch Series photographs, and his unfiltered assessment of the investigations conducted there. He also confronts one of the ranch's most controversial claims: were he and his colleagues unknowingly used as human test subjects to measure the ranch's physical effects? As we mark another July anniversary of the 1947 Roswell incident, we're revisiting one of our most controversial and fascinating conversations. While Roswell is often framed as a battle between extraterrestrial visitation and Project Mogul, author and researcher Nick Redfern presents a far darker possibility involving secret Cold War experiments, human test subjects, missing records, and a government cover-up that may have helped shape the modern UFO myth. In this classic interview, Redfern discusses the evidence, witnesses, and intelligence sources behind his books Body Snatchers in the Desert and The Roswell UFO Conspiracy. Whether you agree with his conclusions or not, this conversation challenges assumptions about the world's most famous UFO case and reminds us why Roswell remains at the center of the UFO mystery nearly eight decades later. As new UAP disclosures continue to emerge, it's the perfect time to revisit one of the most debated theories ever proposed. Ryan is joined by longtime UFO researcher, defense contractor, and Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU) board member Rich Hoffman for an in-depth conversation covering the past, present, and future of UAP research. He shares how an eighth-grade science assignment launched a lifetime of investigations that would eventually bring him into contact with Project Blue Book personnel, Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Stanton Friedman, and many of the pioneers who shaped modern ufology. The discussion explores Hoffman's work with MUFON's STAR Team, his decades supporting the U.S. Army and defense technology programs, the creation of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies, and why collaboration between scientists, governments, and civilian researchers is more important than ever. They also dive into the upcoming SCU Conference in Toronto, the Aguadilla UAP investigation, advances in AI and UAP detection, the latest War.gov document releases, and whether humanity is any closer to genuine disclosure. Here is the full unedited version of The Disclosure Forum that took place in Washington DC on June 25th. Hosted by the Disclosure Foundation, the Disclosure Forum 2026 brought together lawmakers, scientists, journalists, military officials, researchers, economists, and policy experts to discuss one of the most consequential questions of our time: how humanity should respond to increasing transparency surrounding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). Rather than focusing solely on proving the existence of UAP, the event is designed to examine the broader implications of disclosure. Discussions will explored congressional oversight, national security, scientific investigation, religion, psychology, economics, technology, and the societal impact of a world in which governments and institutions may be forced to confront previously hidden realities. In this edition of Somewhere in the Skies Classics, we revisit one of the most mysterious military encounters ever featured on the show. Former Air Force Security Forces officer Jeremy McGowan recounts a strange assignment in the Jordanian Desert in 1995, where he and another officer were ordered to guard a massive, unmarked crate with no explanation of its contents or purpose. During a nighttime watch, McGowan witnessed an unidentified object hovering directly above the crate, performing extraordinary maneuvers that defied explanation. As today's UAP conversation continues to unfold, this remarkable account takes on new relevance. McGowan walks us through the events of that night, the aftermath, and his theories about what was inside the crate, where it came from, and why whatever was in the sky seemed so interested in it. Filmmaker and UFO researcher Dean Alioto returns to discuss his powerful new documentary, The Experiencers: Full Disclosure. As public interest in UFOs continues to grow following Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, Alioto shifts the focus from government secrets to the people at the heart of the mystery: the experiencers themselves. In the film, Alioto explores famous cases including Betty and Barney Hill, Travis Walton, Terry Lovelace, and Whitley Strieber, while also examining compelling new testimonies from modern-day experiencers. The discussion covers alien abductions, missing time, hypnosis, screen memories, non-human intelligence, and the lasting emotional impact these encounters can have. Alioto also shares insights on the work of Harvard psychiatrist John E. Mack, theories surrounding consciousness and reincarnation, and why experiencer testimony remains one of the most overlooked aspects of the UFO phenomenon.
