The Purpose Show

The Purpose Show

Mom life. We're surrounded by the message that it's the tired life. The no-time-for-myself life. The hard life. We're supposed to get through it. Survive. Cling on by the last little thread. And at the same time, Carpe Diem - enjoy every moment because it's going to go by so fast. The typical mom culture sends us all kinds of mixed, typically negative messages. We shouldn't take care of ourselves; it's selfish. The more ragged you run yourself, the bigger your badge of honor. But also, ditch your mom bod and work out. Don't yell. Make more money. Show up. Be better, but not at the expense of time with your kids. I am putting a hard stop to all of this. While being a mom, running a business, and whatever else you might have going on is hard, it is a lot and there's lots of giving of yourself, the idea that motherhood means living a joyless, nonstop-hustle-with-zero-balance kind of life, where you give and give and give and never take, needs to stop. I'm on a mission to help you stop counting down the minutes 'til bedtime (at least most days). Stop the mom guilt and shame game. Stop cleaning up after your kids' childhood and start being present for it. I want to help you thrive in work, home, and life. I believe in John 10:10 that we are called to living an abundant life and I know moms are not excluded from that promise. Join me in conversations about simplicity, some business and life hacks, spirituality and lots of other good stuff that leads to a life of less for the sake of enjoying more in your motherhood. I'm Allie Casazza and this is The Purpose Show.

Ep 277: Flow of Abundance, Societal Programming, and the Law of Harmony with Allyson Byrd

Allyson Byrd is BACK for another incredible conversation! And this one is all about money + the flow of abundance. BUT it is also about so much more than that. We chat about all things money, flow of abundance, and mindset, but we also dive into different areas that you may not realize are blindspots that are holding you back from experiencing abundance. This episode is life-giving. It is encouraging. It is vulnerable. And it is challenging. It's not your typical conversation around money. This is powerful stuff and I KNOW it will help you shift your life.

In this episode Allie + Allyson discuss:

Societal programming ? what it is, where it comes from, and the 3 basic ways it appears in your life. Why the law of harmony is vital to understand when it comes to money mindset (we can't bank on the universe to be our lucky charms box ) Stop doing life on your own. Doing life with (the right) others will bring you more success in life than you could ever accomplish on your own.

Ep 276: Moms, Stop Doing These 3 Things Today with Dr. Hilary Mandzik

"Parenting is the hardest job we'll ever do, but it is possible to shift into a mindset where it doesn't feel so heavy." This hit HOME for me as I sat and chatted with my friend, Dr. Hilary Mandzik. She is a licensed psychologist, parenting specialist, and mom of 3 who is passionate about helping people parent in a way that truly feels good - for both parents and kids - and breaking unhelpful generational cycles. And in this episode she shares THREE things that moms need to stop doing today that will bring instant change to their family. I am not going to type the 3 things out because I really want you to listen, take this in, and take action. You've got this mama!

In this episode Allie and Dr. Hilary discuss:

The societal pressures to push our kids emotions aside and tell them to just "brush it off."

Parents are not cruises ship directors - we don't need to plan entertainment all day. Our kids can and should be bored (it's actually what their brains need!)

How parents should embrace imperfection and use it as a model for their kids

Ep 275: How To Be Loving with Danielle LaPorte

Being feminine is so beautifully portrayed in becoming a mother. But the messaging in society doesn't support that. Feminism is all about receiving but motherhood is all about giving. Ultimately, the misunderstanding of feeling like we need to constantly give, give, give comes from an unhealed part of ourselves. To dive into that healing, we need to learn how to be loving (with ourselves and others).

I am so excited to chat about all of this (and so much more!) with Danielle LaPorte. She is an author and chart-topping podcast host, and a member of Oprah?s SuperSoul 100. Her most recent book is called How To Be Loving and speaks to when your heart is breaking open and the world is waking up. Danielle is also the author of The Fire Starter Sessions, The Desire Map, White Hot Truth, and producer of dozens of meditation kits and online programs for spiritual support.

How I Worked Through A Lifetime of Betrayals to Call In Authentic Friendships

I am going to be REALLY honest with you. Friendships don't come naturally to me. I have been through a lot of trauma when it comes to friendships and it wasn't until I dug deep and did the hard work this year that I found healing and friendship took a positive turn.

If you are in a season where you are struggling to find good friends, I feel you. I get it. But there is so much more for you! You deserve other women in your corner pushing you forward in life. Do the hard work. Heal from the broken friendships. And allow yourself to open up to new ones. It's worth it, friend. I promise you. Let's heal through this together.

Ep 273: Setting Intent For The Holiday Season

Let's get ready for the holiday season in an unconventional way. I am not talking about gifts, organizing shopping lists, or clearing the clutter. I am talking about setting the intent for the holiday season.

Before I do anything - literally anything - I set the intent. Setting the intent lays the foundation for what I expect, it brings awareness, and helps me navigate what could happen in a smooth way.

If you feel overwhelmed by the idea of the holiday season or like it is a burden right now, you are not alone. Let's get ahead of those feelings and set the intent for what you want this upcomingseason to look like for you, and for your family.

Ep 269: My September Self-Improvement Project

Have you ever had a month where you just felt so out of alignment? Like every area felt, just off. That was August for me. It was a heavy month of low energy, low feelings, and getting to a place where I needed a reset. So in September I stepped into a month focused on Self-Improvement; I was "Becoming Her." It was a magical month that taught me a lot of things but mostly it showed me this: it doesn't have to be perfect. Every version of myself has purpose. And so do yours! Every version of you has purpose. Let's discover that together.

Ep 265: Bringing Enjoyment Into Your Daily Life

Lately I have been thinking A LOT about status quo. One of my biggest values is that I don't want normal. I want to live different and at a higher frequency than normal offers. I don't like monotony and the day to day life-tasks can feel like that.

But I have shifted my focus from getting through those routine things to finding ways I can bring joy and pleasure into those monotonous, normal daily things. I don't want to treat life like a list of tasks anymore. I want to elevate the everyday. The energy I bring to the day to day elevates my life and gets me into the place I want my life to be.

This shift has me enjoying things I used to take for granted. And I want the same for YOU. So let's make this shift together.

Ep 264: How Mom Culture is Taking Away Your Power (and How to Take It Back!)

Hot mess mom culture tells us that motherhood WILL be a mess and that the bigger the mess, the more you are accepted. It says ... "if you struggle together, you are connected. If you are doing well, everyone else is failing and you are the villain."

I have talked a lot about my issue with the way society paints motherhood. The way it is drawn for us, how we subscribe to it and how we identify with it. And we all know that what you identify with is what you get, and ultimately how you live.

I think that this message was intended to be true, but it has turned toxic. It is taking away your power to be the best mom you can be for your family.

In this episode, we are going to break this down and shift our mindsets from reactive to ownership. We can take back the power, babe.

Ep 260: An Anxiety Hack For You

We go through so many situations and so many traumas and there can be so much anxiety throughout our lives. I know that for me, I have struggled with anxiety for a really long time and even been diagnosed with PTSD. Something that I have come to learn is that I have to be in control of what I think and feel. If I allow my anxiety to come with me into certain situations, what I?ve realized is that it kind of passes through. It comes and it goes. Ultimately, one of the best ways to handle anxiety is to be honest with yourself and think ?when this is all over, how do I want to feel?? I hope that today?s anxiety hack helps you along your journey.

Ep 259: Stop Being So Self-Critical

I don?t think we truly understand the dangers of self-criticism. We are always so focused on what we did terribly instead of the things that we succeeded in or checked off of our list. We are human and sometimes our brains just go there, but what if someone talked to us the way that we talk to ourselves? Friend, I want to encourage you to see yourself for the good. Look past the amount of water you didn?t drink, the mom fails, and the imperfections and let?s encourage ourselves today. The self-criticism has to go.
