For decades, people from around the world traveled to Brazil to see a spiritual healer known as John of God — believing he could perform miraculous medical procedures without anesthesia. In Episode One, “The Last Hope,” we meet the people drawn to his promise. While true believers claim to be spiritually cured, others describe a secret living nightmare.
