277: Why Starting Small is So Important for Success

Did you know that starting small is THE KEY to sustainable success in your business?  

If you?re like 75% of the world?s population (and like me!), you started the year with some type of goal or New Year?s Resolution ? a fitness goal, rank advancement, business growth, etc.

According to a recent Forbes article, the throngs of people leaving their jobs want:

?> A bigger salary

?> More career opportunities

?> A feeling of value from their leaders

?> Better relationships with their colleagues

?> The ability to continue working remotely

They also want to do work that MATTERS.

Wouldn?t it be awesome if something like that actually existed?  OH WAIT?.

The networking marketing business offers these opportunities, and so that?s why RIGHT NOW is the greatest time in history for our profession.  

The key question is?

Can you really BELIEVE in these things when talking with people, even if they haven?t happened for you yet?

275: A Radically Different Way to Think about Leadership

What if the ultimate goal for our business is to become INSIGNIFICANT within it? I was in a network marketing company that celebrated rank advancements and sales by putting you in front of a large room full of people.    The spotlight was such a big deal. It was the goal.  It was coveted by everybody so much that it became even more valuable than money.  And so, the first time I gave an actual presentation, I felt ecstatic about it.  I thought ?This is what leadership is.? 

However, a powerful conversation completely changed my mindset on leadership. 

This guy, who at the time was 10x more successful than any other person in our company, told me that his value as a leader is not tied to his personal results, but by the results of the people on his team. 

He said that it?s not about how many times you stand in front of a room, but how many stories you help create for other people. 

You see, the more successful we become, the less significant we need to become as well.

274: Are You Taking Growth Oriented Actions (GOA's)?

What?s more important in your business ? RESULTS or GROWTH? 

We hear it over and over inside the network marketing industry?

 That the secret to success is focusing on the income producing activities (IPA?s) of your business.

IPA?s are the front-end activities that we do in the business to create leads - activities like prospecting, creating content on social media, giving presentations, sharing your products with people, etc. 

However, when we take action, we also get extremely focused on the results. 

And when we don?t see the results that we want to see or expect, we begin to get discouraged and doubt ourselves.

Here?s the thing ? focusing on IPAs might produce short-term personal success, but they will never contribute to the long-term growth of your business.

If you want to see long-term sustainable success in your business, you need to shift your mindset and activity to what I like to call Growth Oriented Actions (GOA?s).

273: How to Prospect Without Feeling Like a Salesperson

Are you worried about sounding (and feeling!) like a salesperson when talking to prospects?  

And is that fear affecting your results?

This is one of THE biggest concerns we, as network marketers, have.  

Honestly, it?s one of the reasons so many people avoid our industry and profession!

Sounding like a salesperson and being concerned only about ?the sale? or ?the new recruit? is a major turnoff to people joining your team!

If you are coming off as a bit ?salesy,? it might be because you?re building your business with a SALES mindset. 

People with a sales mindset are focused on the results and the results alone.  

They constantly pitch their products and services to people that don't even have a legitimate need for them.

You want 2022 to be different.  And that means you must lean into having a SERVICE mindset.   

And to have a service mindset, you must stop focusing on the results and start serving each individual person and what their personal needs are.

You need to begin making your conversations intentional and purposeful.  Identify the problems people have and solve those problems by asking them the right questions.

271: Are You Using Good Form in Your Business?

Did you know that your business and exercising have a lot in common?  

After all the holiday festivities, maybe you?ve stepped up your workout regimen.  

And if so, you know that one concept that is extremely vital in exercise is FORM. 

In fact, it is way more important than the intensity, frequency, or weight that you can lift.

However, what?s fascinating is that the same thing applies to our businesses. 

We start off the year by taking massive action.  We do more, more, and more? more presentations, more social media postings, and talk to more people.

But here?s the problem? 

We are so focused in getting a number (quantity) that we sacrifice form (quality), which fundamentally leads to failure.   

Know this -- you'll never see sustainable success and freedom by just focusing on quantity.

268: 4 Ways to Build Your Business Over the Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Typically, this time of the year we take a little bit of time to reflect, plan, and spend time with loved ones so that we can start the new year rested, refreshed, and ready to go.  

I also recognize that there are so many of us who still want to do a few things inside our business to keep the momentum moving forward.    

However, here is my advice for you during this time of the year: Honor people where they are at in their own businesses and accept the circumstances for what they are. 

If you have a leader who wants to take some time off, just be okay with it. Your priorities are not always their priorities, and we need to be OK with that.

But there are a few things each of us can do to focus on keeping that momentum going.

267: Never Do Anything Alone

I see two common mistakes why leaders struggle in creating independent leaders on their team.

#1 ? They let go of leaders way too early. 

#2 ? They do everything for their new team members for way too long

We, as leaders, are either asking too much of people too early when they are not 100% equipped to do it on their own?and, as a result, they struggle and get stuck in their business instead of becoming effective 

Or, because we want everything to be perfect,  we do too much for our new team members for way too long, which in effect holds people back from being the independent leaders you need them to be.

So here?s my advice in this aspect of leadership --- Never do anything alone.

266: How Hard Should You Push Your New Recruits?

What is the #1 missed opportunity I see leaders make while onboarding new team members?  

I see it all the time.  You have a new team member.  You give them an actionable assignment.  They make commitments to do it.  And then a week goes by and NOTHING happens. 

However, instead of calling that team member out, you make it totally OKAY because you?re afraid of pushing them away.  

And so the same pattern continues and eventually that team member fades away.

It?s a scenario that we?ve ALL experienced.  

However, we have to ask ourselves as leaders, what are the long term effects of not ever having the tough conversations with new team members?  

Here?s the thing ? when we have the tough conversations with the right people, it actually creates MORE trust and a closer relationship ? it doesn?t push them away.

Calling out the right person is not going to push them away. It's going to draw them closer.
