In the clinical realm, he has worked with numerous victims. He received his Master?s degree in Marriage, Family and Child counseling, as well his doctorate degree, from the University of Southern California. Dr. Matthias graduated with honors in philosophy from Princeton University, and he won the prestigious McCosh Thesis prize while there. In high school he graduated valedictorian from a large public high school in Chicago where he was chosen to participate in a ground-breaking valedictory study that continues to this day.

THE CASE: August 30, 2023--a brave 12-year-old boy named "R" escapes a house of torture in Southern Utah, rescuing himself and his 10-year-old sister "E". The children's mother YouTube Celebrity Ruby Franke, and Ruby's therapist Jodi Hildebrandt, are arrested and charged with 6 counts of aggravated child abuse.

Arley Naomi Proctor-Hernandez was taken to a church on September 24, 2021. Her grandfather was pastor at the small California church, and family members met to assist in an exorcism.

Her mom believed she was possessed. The probable cause is difficult to read, and the determined cause of death is asphyxiation. 

The week before Arley's mother, Claudia Hernandez-Santos, was arrested, Claudia started a YouTube channel and spoke to her viewers. It's chilling to listen. 

The trio of family members stand before a judge this week in San Jose California, and according to reporters in the court room, Claudia swiveled in a chair and occasionally yawned while listening to Police testimony. 

This episode was recorded just after the arrests were made in January 2022, and was only available on Patreon until today.

Returning home to California from Mexico - Matthew Coleman is taken into custody and confesses to killing his two young children with a spearfishing gun. According to the probable cause, Coleman had been following conspiracy theories online and believed his wife had passed her serpent DNA onto their children, which would mean his son and daugther would grow up to become monsters, and Coleman had to kill them in order to save the world.

This episode was originally recorded in the summer of 2022 - a year after Matthew Coleman confessed to killing his children. Currently, Matthew is being held in an undisclosed federal location for treatment after being deemed incompetent to stand trial in October 2023. 

Matthew had a competency hearing scheduled for March 8th, 2024 but it never happened and we still wait. Hidden True Crime is following closely.

For today's episode we are traveling back to August of 2021. Its an episode we've never shared publicly, until now.

One week before we recorded this conversation at our kitchen table - on August 8th, 2021 - Matthew Coleman, a 40-year-old Santa Barbara California surf teacher, killed his two young children with a spear fishing gun in Mexico.

His wife Abby reported that Matthew had taken their children from their California home and left suddenly. He was taken into custody and confessed to killing 2-year-old Kaleo and 10-month old Roxy . According to the probable cause--Coleman believed Abby had passed serpent DNA to their children. . Matthew said he knew what he did was wrong, but he was saving the world.

This podcast was originally recorded on August 21, 2023, the day former British neonatal nurse Lucy Letby was sentenced in the UK to a whole life-order.

34-year-old Letby murdered seven infants at Countess of Chester Hospital, and attempted to murder six others between June 2015 and June 2016. She was charged in November 2020, and her trial lasted from October 2022 to August 2023. 

Letby's methods included injecting the infants insulin or air, overfeeding them, and physically abusing them using medical tools. In January 2024 an application to appeal her conviction was refused, but she still faces a retrial on one of the counts coming up in June 2024 on the one charge where the jury was unable to reach a verdict during the original trial.

Dr. Matthias has been an adjunct assistant professor in the University of Nevada Las Vegas clinical psychology doctoral program since 2007. He supervises UNLV doctoral students on forensic assessments, clinical case formulation, and various therapeutic approaches to clinical work.

JOHN MATTHIAS is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with 30 years? experience. He serves as an expert witness for the federal government and consults on high-profile cases for District Attorney?s offices and defense attorneys in several states. In the forensic area, Dr. Matthias has developed expertise in personality assessments, hidden behavioral motivations, complex trauma and criminal psychology. In the clinical realm, he has worked with numerous victims. He received his Master?s degree in Marriage, Family and Child counseling, as well his doctorate degree, from the University of Southern California. Dr. Matthias graduated with honors in philosophy from Princeton University, and he won the prestigious McCosh Thesis prize while there. DR. JOHN MATTHIAS is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with 30 years? experience in both clinical and forensic work. He serves as an expert witness for the federal government and has consulted on numerous high-profile cases for District Attorney?s offices and defense attorneys in several states.

In the forensic area, Dr. Matthias has developed expertise in personality assessments, hidden behavioral motivations, complex trauma and criminal psychology. In the clinical realm, he has worked with numerous victims. He received his Master?s degree in Marriage, Family and Child counseling, as well his doctorate degree, from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Matthias graduated with honors in philosophy from Princeton University, and he won the prestigious McCosh Thesis prize while there. In high school he graduated valedictorian from a large public high school in Chicago where he was chosen to participate in a ground-breaking valedictory study that continues to this day.

LAUREN MATTHIAS worked as an anchor and reporter for ABC, NBC, and FOX News in Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah. She spent a decade reporting on a diverse range of topics from high profile crimes to Presidential visits. Most recently, she reported for Salt Lake City?s ABC affiliate News4Utah. In 2015 she received the Idaho State Broadcaster?s Association Best Reporter award. In our second episode surrounding the case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Dr John takes us deeper into his analysis. Gypsy has recently been released from prison after serving an 8 year sentence for murdering her own mother. Gypsy Rose is the victim of Munchausen by proxy [Factitious disorder imposed on another]. Gypsy received a plea deal and lesser sentence than her co-conspirator Nick Godejohn, and since her release from prison she has done several media interviews and garnered millions of followers on Tiktok and Instagram. She is also the subject of the recent Lifetime Documentary: "Prison confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard".

He serves as an expert witness for the federal government, and he has consulted on numerous high-profile cases for District Attorney?s offices and defense attorneys in several states.

He also received his Master?s degree in Marriage, Family and Child counseling from the University of Southern California and he has worked with hundreds of families, couples and children over the years. He supervises UNLV doctoral students on forensic assessments, clinical case formulation, and various therapeutic approaches to clinical work.

Jes was a close friend of Melani Pawlowski - Lori Vallow's niece - and is a close friend of Brandon Boudreaux. Jes shares her harrowing experience trying to help her friends, and the fear she experienced for months while people around her kept dying.

This interview with Jes took place June 30th, 2021 the day after Lori Vallow was charged in Arizona for conspiring in the murder of her then-husband Charles Vallow. Charles was shot to death on July 11, 2019 by his brother-in-law Alex cox.
